Today, natural therapies are becoming increasingly popular.

One of them is aromatherapy – treatment with healing scents that makes an impact on human health and mood.

Essential oils are harmless, but very potent means for eliminating stress, bad mood and fatigue.

Some essential oils have antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties, others stimulate and tonify, while the third soothe and relax.

They are used in all spheres of life - homes, beauty salons, shops.

But did you know that you can enjoy the benefits of essential oils in your office?

You will need an aromatic lamp and several essential oils or incenses - and the magic of aromatherapy will begin!

Helping mankind for thousands of years

Herbal aromas have been used for centuries for treatment - whether in the form of incenses in religious ceremonies, in perfumes, balms and ointments.

From the records and files of the ancient civilizations such as Egypt, China and Persia, it is evident that the essential oils were used by priests, doctors and healers.

For example, in ancient Egypt cinnamon, pine, cedar and mire essential oils were used for embalming mummies.

When the 1922 Tutankhamun's tomb was discovered several containers sealed with wax were found inside.

When the containers were opened, they contained still unspoiled essential oils.

Just remember the ancient Romans as proponents of massage and bath with aromatic herbs, and Greeks with garlands of fragrant herbs around the head.

From this we can conclude that the ancients knew the therapeutic properties of fragrant plants, and that these plants had a wide application in their everyday life.

The term aromatherapy was first introduced to the West by the French chemist Rene Maurice Gattefosse in 1920.

He suffered burns on his hand after the explosion in a chemical laboratory. He dipped his hand in the first vessel he could find.

The vessel was filled with lavender oil and to his surprise, the wound quickly healed without scarring.

After this event, he was intrigued by the properties of essential oils, from which emerged the modern aromatherapy.

The therapeutic value of essential oils

The value of essential oils is enormous. In order to obtain a small bottle of essential oil, you need a large amount of plants.

For example, 7 kg of fresh peppermint leaves yields only 30 ml of essential oil.

Because of that, essential oils are very expensive.

The process of separating the scent of the plants is complex, using steam distillation.

Therefore, many ancient civilizations considered scents derived from various aromatic plants as their "soul", and highly appreciated them.

Today aromatherapy uses about 250 types of essential oils.

Essential oils are volatile, and the heat causes most of essential oils evaporate into the atmosphere.

Therefore, aroma lamps are often used for the application of aromatherapy.

They are suitable for creating a pleasant atmosphere in workspaces.

Create a pleasant working atmosphere

In addition to the positive impact on health, essential oils also affect mood and the ability to work.

Studies in America have shown that stores filled with certain scents of essential oils achieved higher sales.

In Japan, big companies and factories sprinkle essential oils in the air-conditioning system, which increases the working capacity of their employees.

Studies have confirmed that exposure to certain scents raises alertness, stamina and energy.

Essential oils can be used as a "boost" for raising the energy, instead of caffeine beverages.

Oils for this purpose are those with citric hot bitter scent.

Lemon essential oil is very effective in increasing labor productivity in the office.

Other oils with similar stimulating effect are grapefruit, tangerine, orange, mint, bergamot, ginger, eucalyptus, rosemary and basil.

Against anxiety and stress at work you can use bergamot, basil, geranium, lavender, lemon balm, marjoram, neroli, and sandalwood.

Have you suffered a shock of some kind? Reach for basil, chamomile, lemon balm, peppermint or rosemary.

In case of a sudden emotional shock or stress, it is recommended to dip the palm with thyme oil and take a deep breath.

In case of depression you can use bergamot, geranium, jasmine, sage, chamomile, lavender, neroli, patchouli, rose or rosemary.

Do you suffer from chronic fatigue? Try geranium, jasmine, chamomile, lavender, melissa, neroli, patchouli, sandalwood and ylang ylang essential oils.

How to use essential oils

Put a candle in aroma lamp, add water and a few drops of your favorite essential oil in the tray at the top.

As the candle burns, the scent spreads through the room and refreshes it.

It is important not to use too much essential oil. In the beginning always put only a couple of drops.

To refresh the workspace, you can use sprays.

Put 5 ml of alcohol and 30-50 drops of essential oil of your choice into a 100 ml spray bottle. Fill the rest of the bottle with distilled water.

Before use, always shake the bottle and spray around the area.
