With the arrival of warm days we are faced with an onslaught of various insects, either in the house or in the garden, and among them are the ants.
Ant invasions may last for years.
In most cases, ants come out of the smallest imaginable holes and are difficult to suppress.
Fortunately, you do not have to poison your home with bug spray.
There are many natural, non-toxic ways to permanently remove ants from your home.
Some of these solutions are already in your kitchen cabinets.
Natural resources against ants
1. Essential oil
Ants are not fans of aromatherapy. Among the essential oils that strongly repel ants are lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint and cinnamon.
Pour a few drops of these oils in places where ants come out. Wipe the surface clean with a cloth drenched with a few drops of the chosen oil.
In addition to repelling ants, your living spaces will smell good, and you will feel better.
2. Spices
With the help of spices you also can repel ants and scent your home.
Sprinkle black pepper, chili, cinnamon, mint, clove or garlic, whatever is at hand, wherever you see ants and around the foundation of the house.
You can put laurel leaves in cupboards, drawers and containers.
3. Chalk or baby powder
Chalk and baby powder contain talc, which is a natural repellent for ants.
Make a chalk line or sprinkle baby powder in places where ants enter your home.
4. Cucumber or citrus peel
Ants can be repelled by leaving citrus fruits or cucumber peels in places where they are most active.
These types of peel are toxic to fungi which ants feed on, so they will avoid them.
5. Vinegar
If you have ants in sight, spray them with vinegar. Brush all surfaces on which they move with vinegar.
We recommend that you wash the floors every day with a vinegar solution, because it will repel ants.
6. Coffee
Ants find coffee very repulsive. Do not throw away coffee sludge, but put it in a place through which ants enter your home.
