The decision of a popular actress Angelina Jolie to have both of her breasts surgically removed even though she doesn't have breast cancer amazed the public.
She explained her decision by saying that she has the BRCA1 gene, which makes a predisposition for certain types of cancers, including breast cancer.
She stated that her mother had the same gene and that she died of cancer in 2007. (Admittedly, it was not breast cancer but ovarian cancer.)
Angelina was convinced by someone that her breasts were the most vulnerable and that they must be removed.
Celebrity actress was misled into believing that her BRCA1 gene will certainly cause disease. And that is certainly not true.
"Millions of women carry the BRCA1 gene and never develop cancer because they lead a healthy life with cancer prevention smart diet, exercise and avoidance of cancer-causing chemicals," says Natural News portal.
Angelina has unfortunately fallen to the persuasion of oncologists, concluding that instead of keeping a healthy life, she will surgically remove her breast.
Her decision is a consequence of a destructive impact of pharmaceutical industry, which frightens women that their breasts could lead to their death.
However, it is not true that breasts are women’s enemies.
As pointed out by Natural News, the pharmaceutical industry is much more dangerous.
Cancer affects not only the breast
The wrongness of the decision that Angelina and her doctor made is also reflected in the fact that cancer is not a problem of only one organ and that cancer develops in a large number of tissues.
Therefore, the idea that it is possible to prevent breast cancer by removing breasts is absurd.
If the body has conditions for the occurrence of cancer, such as a lack of nutrients, chemicals and radiation poisoning, cancer can develop in many places.
Eliminating just one of many organs in which cancer could develop in the future is completely unreasonable and unjustified solution.
Shameful role of the media
Great support given to Angelina in the media and calling her brave for what she did is also unjustified.
New York Times has published her column in which she expressed the hope that other women will learn from her experiences.
Angelina encourages other healthy women to remove their breasts, but not only that. She announced that in future she could also have her ovaries removed because cancer can also develop there.
Her actions and statements could encourage others to cripple themselves with unnecessary operations.
Maybe in the future people will agree to remove other organs where cancer may arise.
Will people remove the kidneys if they carry a gene that makes a predisposition to kidney cancer? And what if you have a genetic risk for lung cancer or colon cancer?
We can only be sure that no one will convince men to remove their healthy testicles or prostate. No one has the heart to make such a recommendation, knowing that the reaction of men would be outrageous.
But, preventive removing healthy breast is also illogical when we know that there are other, healthier, methods of prevention.
Everyone ought to be aware that preventive surgery only goes into the favor of medical industry which earns a lot on surgeries, chemotherapy and other treatments.
In order to continue making profits that are measured in the billions, the industry spreads irrational fear, especially among women.
Women are, as emotionally more sensitive sex, more often the targets of propaganda than men.
Preempt cancer?
In order to make its propaganda effective, the industry has coined the term "to preempt cancer."
While the common phrase of surviving cancer means getting sick and get cured, to preempt cancer should mean "never to develop cancer” by removing healthy organs which could eventually develop cancer.
Instead of inciting surgery, honest doctors will inform women that they can reduce the risk of cancer via lifestyle, regular exercise and use of natural resources.
For example, it is a well known fact that breast cancer risk can be reduced by 78 percent with the help of vitamin D. (You can get sufficient quantities of vitamin D trough sun exposure).
Unfortunately, vitamin D can not ensure large profits to medical and pharmaceutical industry, while mastectomy and reconstructive surgery can.
And the price will be paid by scared and ill-informed patients.
