Himalayan Salt – The Healthiest Salt in the World

Probably, many times you have heard that salt is not healthy.

But the fact is that we cannot live without salt, so the question is which salt should we use and in what amount?

Salt or sodium chloride (NaCl) has an important role in physiological processes and is essential for life and health.

All body liquids such as blood, sweat, saliva and tears contain salt.

Salt cannot be produced by our body therefore we get it from the food we eat.

Salt insufficiency creates chemical imbalance in the body. Without salt our muscle and nervous system would stop functioning.

Still, it is very important what kind of salt we consume.

There is a vast difference between processed (refined) salt and natural salt.


Refined Salt is Harmful


Refined (table) salt, whose chemical structure is altered in the process of refinement and drying at high temperatures, is what people commonly use in everyday life.

This type of salt does not contain valuable elements and minerals anymore and therefore is more harmful, then beneficial, to your body.

Table salt contains 97.5% of sodium chloride and supplements such as iodine and various chemicals like aluminum whose purpose is to keep the salt dry. 

Aluminum is a toxic metal that is often connected with Alzheimer and Parkinson’s disease.

High amounts of sodium contained in salt are also harmful to the body.

Beside the fact that it lowers the immunity, over excessive use of refined salt is connected with:

  • High blood pressure
  • Heart diseases
  • Kidney and stomach diseases
  • Kidney and gallbladder stones
  • Osteoporosis
  • Rheumatism
  • Cellulite

Our body needs salt but that doesn’t mean any salt. Our body needs salt that is not ruined by the refinement process and unnecessary additives. 


Healthy Alternative


Unrefined sea or rock salt is a better alternative – under condition that is used in reasonable amounts.

Any salt, including natural salt, is harmful to our body if we eat oversalted foods. 

There is also a major difference between natural salts.

Due to sea pollution, sea salt is not so healthy anymore.

This is why it is being purified and produced as refined salt.

The fact is that salt contains valuable minerals and elements in trace, but if examined under microscope, it can be seen that salt has an irregular crystal structure that is separated from natural elements. 

That is why our body has no benefits from ingredients contained in refined sea salt.

Our body has to invest a lot of energy to absorb it and therefore the benefits, when compared to the invested energy, are small.

Rock salt also has an irregular crystal structure, so from biophysical and biochemical point the body has no use from valuable elements contained in it. 

Continuous long term tectonic pressure is what gives salt its regular crystal structure.

In other words, the only way for the body to receive, beside sodium chloride, valuable elements, is to consume salt that has a balanced crystal structure.


Himalayan Salt


Himalayan salt is the only salt that has a perfect crystal structure.

From this crystal structure our body can easily absorb all valuable minerals and elements in trace.

Himalayan salt is also the purest salt in the world and contains the same 84 minerals and elements that are contained in human body.

Sufficient amount of minerals, elements in trace and electrolytes is necessary for health.

Their deficiency or imbalanced input causes changes in body functions and that is why “regular” salt is considered unhealthy.

When compared to Himalayan salt, regular salt contains no electrolytes such as potassium, calcium and magnesium which the body loses by sweating, physical exercise or illness. 

Himalayan salt is a rock salt which was created under a huge tectonic pressure that lasted for 250 millions of years.

Its origin comes from ancient oceans, a pure ecological systems, and it can be found at the foothills of the Himalayas.

It is hand-crushed, hand-washed and dried in the sun by which all its valuable ingredients are preserved.


White Gold


Himalayan salt is also known as white gold and it was traditionally used by kings. 

High quality blocks are milled into eatable salt.

Larger salt is used for baths and various treatments.

Its effectiveness was shown in treating rheumatism, asthma, allergies and various skin diseases.

It can be used for inhalation for example when suffering from sinus problems, sore throat, asthma and bronchitis.

Himalayan salt is recognized by warm color tones of pink - which is a sign that it is rich in minerals.

When heated it purifies the air and makes it healthier. That is why large crystal rocks are used for making lamps and candle holders.

It is believed that they eliminate damaging electromagnetic emissions and therefore they should be kept beside a TV or computer.

Consuming natural salt such as Himalayan is beneficial for the entire body.
