Hot taste (katu rata) consists of the elements of fire and air and has warming properties.
It increases vata and pita doshas and reduces kapha. Hot taste can have beneficial effects on the body, but do not overdo it. Excess hot taste may cause certain health problems in your body.

Excessive intake of hot food can cause weakness and fatigue, burning sensation, dizziness, fainting, and thirst. It also increases perspiration and heat in the body and can cause or aggravate gastritis.
Hot flavor is most recommended for people with kapha dosha disorder. On the other hand, people who suffer from excess pita or vata doshas in the body should watch the intake of hot food and spices.
