Modern age thinker, Albert Einstein, said: "We all dance according to the mystical sounds of a distant, invisible flute."
Great Einstein knew it.
He looked beyond the material world; he saw the shimmering delicate network of threads that encompasses us all, everything that exists on Earth and in the Universe.
He saw that we all dance a unique dance.
Feng shui investigates these fine threads in order to make our dance into a waltz.
This ancient wisdom is one of the greatest achievements of Eastern philosophies.
It flourished for thousands of years as an empirical science, and eventually morphed into a practical philosophy-art.
We see its roots in the very roots of the human race.
At the beginning, it was our natural instinct to survive, inherited from Mother Nature.
Our ancestors, via careful observation of nature, noticed that they feel better in some places than the others.
These findings were then used to find the most appropriate places for habitat. Natural curiosity pushed to further explorations, too look up at the skies above.
Then they saw that our earth is a reflection of the sky.
Any changes on the earth are the work of the influence of the sky. Nature is full of opposing forces and yet there are order and harmony, as if someone behind the visible world is accurately pulling the strings.
It took thousands of years and thousands of thinkers for creation of a great theory: Chi, Yin-Yang, BaGua, Lo Shu, Five elements, and then the various methods of their application and all of them were combined into a single empirical science.
Marco Polo wrote: "In Beijing, I saw five thousand people looking at the sky."
In today's Western world, full of unnatural influence and interference, this science is being transformed into real adjustment skill.
Unfortunately for us, this wisdom came to the West as late as during the eighties of the previous century, when the Eastern world opened up.
But, this science was never available to common people even in the East - knowledge was strictly kept only for the rulers.
This only confirms its magic power, so we should be happy that today we can enjoy its benefits.
I like to say that it is applied philosophy, the art of combining the spectrum of knowledge.
It helps us to reach our goals in the easiest way. It will always be with us, good old friend whose hand will be our support and will always lead us forward.
This will help us to find ourselves “in the right place at the right time' as often as possible.'
What should we do?
I'd say, "Move out of the way of ourselves."
Simply, we have to walk alone, with wide open eyes and mind, to be curious, to use all five senses, and to awaken the sixth sense.
That way we can revive those delicate threads that bind us to nature. Everything else will soon follow because of the law of the nature, and we will find our place in that mystical dance.
Today, Feng shui can be seen as a potential treasure for modern times, its value lies in its cosmopolitanism that transcends all religious, cultural and political boundaries of modern world.
This could be the foundation of a new-old collective "philosophy" that could provide solutions to many problems of humanity.
To be continued…
