Fasting - an ideal way to detox your body

In modern world we are exposed to a multitude of toxins that enter our body from a variety of sources.

We live in a polluted environment, we breathe polluted air, and the food we consume is increasingly contaminated with harmful and dangerous ingredients.

Even the clothes we wear often contain harmful ingredients that enter our body via the skin.

All these toxins can eventually accumulate in the body and impair the general state of the organism.

The consequences can manifest in milder forms, such as chronic fatigue, lack of energy, all-day drowsiness, irritability, fatigue, problems with the digestive system, headaches.

Due to the accumulation of toxins in the body, serious diseases can develop - allergies, arthritis, heart disease and even cancer.

To keep the body free of toxins and maintain good health, it is necessary to periodically perform cleansing of the organism.

Regular detoxification reduces the risk of many diseases, strengthens the body and mind and provides additional energy.

There are many proven natural methods for cleansing the body, and one of them is fasting.


Cleansing the body with the help of fasting


Fasting, according to many experts, is the oldest and the safest and most effective way of eliminating harmful substances from the body.

Except from ridding the body off all toxins, this method has a positive effect on overall mental and physical health.

Throughout ancient history to the present day many prominent doctors have considered abstaining from food to be healthy and natural way of cleansing and restoring body’s balance.

Even in ancient times, the famous Greek physician, the father of medicine, Hippocrates, advocated fasting as a therapeutic method and said – "The more you feed the patient, the more harm you cause him."

Distinguished philosophers like Plato and Socrates also used the method of fasting as an effective way for the restoration of their own mental and physical abilities.

Otto Buchinger, a German physician and philosopher, was the first to advocate fasting as a strong medicinal therapy during the 60’s of the previous century.

Buchinger’s method of therapeutic fasting has been improved and perfected by the great Austrian expert in folk medicine, Rudolf Breuss.

Today it is known as "Total therapy" and is used against serious and incurable diseases.

The basic principle of total therapy involves abstaining from food or consuming only herbal teas and vegetable juices that provide all the ingredients necessary for normal functioning.

Another famous therapy, which was advocated by a well-known physician and nutritionist Paavo O. Airola, is recommended in preventive purposes.

In this therapy, only fresh fruit juices are allowed to be consumed along with herbal teas and vegetable juices.

The third method is based solely on water and herbal teas without consuming juices from vegetables or fruits.

The hardest fasting therapy, which is advocated, among others, by the Russian expert Gennady Petrovich Malahov, is based on the water only.

Malahov believes that regular elimination of toxins from the body is the basis of health.

He wrote as many as sixty books describing his experiences and knowledge about natural healing.

According to his claims, along with fasting, the Moon phases also have a great importance in processes of cleansing and healing the body.

He believes that cleansing is far more efficient during certain periods of the lunar cycle.

Malahov advocates a strict regimen of fasting, a therapy based solely on water, and believes that this method of cleansing is much faster and more thorough.

His opinion is that the healing effect is lost by entering any form of food, so he does not advocate the consumption of juices and teas.

 

Note

Prolonged fasting on water and teas, without the use of juices, requires mandatory regular monitoring of electrolytes in the blood.


The easiest kind of fasting, which is recommended for cleansing the body, is one-day fast on water or a three-day fast on water, fruit juices and fruits.

These kinds of fasts are not difficult and can be carried out periodically (1-2 times a month) for the purpose of cleansing the body and disease prevention.

 

How does the fasting process affect the organism


During the first half of the fasting cycle, purification of the body occurs, wherein the body excretes any harmful and toxic substances.

The elimination of pollutants contributes to the overall physical and mental well-being, and boosts immunity and energy.

Subsequently, in the second part of the cycle, our body begins to dissolve all the unhealthy cells in the body - fat, sick tissue and foreign bodies such as tumors and cysts.

During the decomposition of old and sick tissues, the construction of new, healthy cells begins simultaneously.

During prolonged fasting therapy, it is necessary to regularly perform an enema of the intestines, to prevent poisoning caused by the possible retention of decomposed substances in the body.

During therapy, it is recommended to spend more time in fresh air and to regularly perform any type of physical activity such as walking, light gymnastics and massage.


Fasting against diseases


According to many experts of alternative medicine, if properly implemented, the fasting therapy can cure many diseases, with the greatest emphasis on curing cancer. 

In his book ''Cancer, leukemia and other seemingly incurable diseases'' Breuss testifies to more than 40,000 cases in which people have been cured of cancer and other serious illnesses.

Although it is still not recognized by official medicine, this therapy has been carried out for years in many alternative medicine clinics around the world.

Its effectiveness in the treatment of the following diseases has been proven:

  • malignancy
  • diseases of the circulatory system
  • cholesterol
  • high or low blood pressure
  • disorders of the digestive system
  • diseases of the liver and biliary tract
  • rheumatism and arthrosis
  • degenerative diseases of the spine
  • diseases of muscles and ligaments
  • allergies
  • psoriasis and many other skin diseases
  • respiratory diseases (asthma, chronic bronchitis)
  • psychosomatic disorders
  • migraines
  • diabetes
  • varicose veins

 

Along with Buchinger and Breuss, many medical experts testified about the positive effects of fasting on the overall physical and mental health.

The Swedish biochemist and nutritionist, Dr. Ragnar Berg, a Nobel Prize laureate and one of the world's leading experts on nutrition, is a well-known advocate of fasting based on juices.

He stated:

During fasting the body burns up and excretes huge amounts of accumulated wastes. This process can be accelerated by drinking alkaline juice instead of water. I conducted many therapies based on fasting and performed numerous tests of patients and I am confident that the introduction of fruit and vegetables increases the therapeutic efficacy of fasting. It accelerates the elimination of uric and other acids, while the sugars from the juice at the same time strengthen the heart... Fasting with the help of juices is the best form of fasting.

 

Gabriel Cousens, a prominent Californian doctor, underwent a 42-day fasting therapy. In his book "Rainbow Green Live Food Cuisine" he highlighted the benefits of fasting:

Occasional fasting has been known for centuries as a powerful weapon against chronic diseases and an excellent way in which we will extend our life span.

Alongside well-known doctors and nutritionists, a large number of patients that underwent this therapy also tell their affirmative stories.

Most of them describe fasting as a period filled with physical ease, expressive physical and spiritual strength and peaceful sleep.

A special emphasis is placed on the absence of any kind of pain during the fasting period.


Other positive effects of fasting include: 

  • cleanses the body of toxins
  • sharpens the senses and improves memory
  • increases resistance to infections
  • increases energy and vitality
  • rejuvenates the body and slows down aging
  • improves the appearance of skin, hair and nails
  • helps eliminate addictions such as alcoholism and smoking

 

 

Notes

Fasting may have mild side effects such as headaches, irritability and dizziness.

If you opt for a longer fast, you need to be under the control of a professional.

Fasting is not recommended for pregnant women, nursing mothers and children, and persons with reduced body weight.
