sunce Our Sun is the source of life.

All natural process on the planet Earth depend on it.

Humans, plants and animals also depend on the Sun and are adapting to its rhythm.

Many scientists today believe that, with regular diet and balanced lifestyle, the Sun's light is the best protection against many diseases.

Researches conducted all around the world have indicated that dosed exposure to ultraviolet Sun’s rays is one of the most efficient treatment methods ever developed.

Sun’s healing properties

By exposing ourselves to the Sun, we feed our system with the whole specter of ultraviolet rays that reach our planet.

Before antibiotics, heliotherapy (Sun therapy) was the most successful healing method against infections and some other diseases.

The reason we crave for the Sun so much when there is no Sun is the instinct of our body that wishes to expose itself to healing and cleansing Sun rays.

The human body is built to use ultraviolet rays and we mostly need those rays for the health of our cells.

Insufficient exposure to ultraviolet rays can lead to cancer development, which was confirmed by scientific researches.

Despite the widely accepted belief that Sun exposure can cause cancer, people working in offices have higher skin cancer occurrence than people that work out in the open.

Sun’s light feeds us with energy. Sun light deficiency leads to lack of energy which leads to weakened immunity system and disease development.

Sun disinfects our skin of harmful bacteria. The longer the ultraviolet wavelength, the deeper the wave penetrates our skin. The longest waves can reach our brain and influence our mood.

It was proven that Sun exposure:

  • has positive effects on heart and blood vessel health
  • enhances mood
  • helps with hypertension and arrhythmia
  • balances sugar and cholesterol levels
  • enhances energy, stamina and strength
  • increases body’s resistance against infections
  • regulates hormone levels
  • reduces inflammations
  • increases stress tolerance and reduces depression
  • has anti-bacterial effects
  • reduces cancer risk

The most recent studies link vitamin D deficiency with depression, multiple sclerosis, breast and prostate cancer, osteoporosis, diabetes and obesity.

Solar water (SURYA JAL)

The sun has the ability of purifying and energizing water.

With the help of the Sun, you can purify your tap water. Pour fresh water into a glass bottle, but not completely full - leave about 5 cm up to the top.

When you fill a glass bottle with drinking water, cover the surface with a glass or with a small glass cover that is transparent to allow sunlight directly inside.

Leave the bottle at least 5 hours on the Sun; the best is to leave it for 48 hours.

Enjoy the taste!

Solar Yoga (sungazing)

In the 19th century, the British in India revealed the existence of yogis who allegedly had hundreds of years.

With great interest, they have begun to explore the phenomenon of old and vital people. These ancient yogis knew the best kept secrets of one of all time - "solar yoga", i.e. the skill or the technique that rejuvenates the physical body by directly taking the Sun’s energy.

People who have mastered this technique are called "those who feed on God's mana." The most famous solar yogis of the 19th and the 20th century are Visudananda Swami, Prahlad Djani, wandering yogi-saint Sun Umasankara and Hira Ratan Manek.

Solar yoga involves daily looking at the Sun in the morning or evening, more about that can be found here.

How to expose ourselves to the Sun and for how long

Our climate allows us to spend time in the Sun not only during summer, but also during autumn, spring and even winter.

However, it is essential to dose Sun’s rays, since overexposure is also harmful.

During winter, spring and autumn there is no danger from the Sun, but in summer it is best to avoid Sun’s rays between 11 and 15 hours.

If you have to be exposed to the Sun during that time, it is best to protect your skin in a natural way. You can use natural unrefined oils like olive or almond oil. For skin care after sunbathing, you can use aloe vera gel.

Unfortunately, being in the sun while the body is coated with a protective SPF cream cannot bring anything good. Check with caution which chemicals you put on your skin, because they are absorbed into your body.

Exposure to the Sun has to be adjusted to our skin type and to dosha. According to Ayurveda, pitta types should be less exposed to the Sun, and vata types and kapha types should be exposed more.

It is recommended to take a shower before sunbathing because by showering you will remove natural grease from your skin.

If possible, expose your whole body to the Sun, only for a couple of minutes at first. Gradually increase exposure time to 20-30 minutes.

Taking a walk on a sunny day can have the same effects as sunbathing.

Our body is intelligent - it creates a supply of vitamin D and uses them in the months when there is insufficient sunlight.

So, take advantage of sunny days while they last and "recharge your batteries"!
