Sometimes we get stuck in certain life phases. We strive as best we can but we don't achieve the desired result.
We try to achieve our goals in all sorts of ways, but none works.
What could be the problem? Is there a solution? Yes, a very simple one: working on yourself.
Awareness and integration of new knowledge may help us think differently, act differently and end up achieving better, desired results.
We all have different expectations of oneself, either self-imposed or imposed by others.
We naturally aspire at progress. That's a positive attitude.
Sometimes our ideas and desires or the situation in which we want to be are so strong that their create resistance.
When we aim at what we don't have, we focus on our lack of it. Then we attract precisely that - the feeling of not having what we want.
At the same time, since our focus is directed at negative thoughts, we form a negative self-concept, ignoring our good traits.
They remain in the shadow, while our negative feelings take over. You can alter this state today with the help of quality self-help techniques.
Here we're going to present you a technique called "hero". It's purpose is to turn everything negative in life to good thoughts and discover virtues you never knew you had.
Hero technique for discovering your virtues
In order to turn your focus from negative to positive, perform the following exercise: think of a specific goal.
You surely know which abilities or characteristics you need to have to achieve that goal.
When you know what you need to do, you certainly think of what you cannot do.
You are reminded of it by your self-assessment of your shortcomings, that which you know isn't your strong suit.
Now you need to immediately become aware of your positive characteristics and turn your focus to the positive.
With this in mind perform the hero exercise in the following three steps.
1. step
Think of a person who has the characteristics you believe you lack.
Surely there is a person who embodies precisely these virtues, someone who is your idol.
2. step
Write the name of that person and below the name define the characteristics he or she possesses. For instance, Anna: flexibility, experience, courage, tolerance, moderation etc.
3. step
Replace that person's name with your own. Look at the listed characteristics one by one. Remember at least one situation in which you displayed each characteristic.
Assess how much of that characteristic you have or not have. Find out whether they are just "dormant" and in need of activation.
How can this exercise help you?
The exercise will help you abandon the well-known thinking patterns which have always been taking you back to the same spot making it hard for you to find a solution.
The answers you get from this exercise will change your focus from bad to good and convince you that you have most of the abilities for a quality and fulfilled life.
You may gain insight into how to acquire or improve the desired abilities.
Also, by doing this exercise, you may realize that you had convinced yourself you had to achieve this goal in a highly specific way, although that was not the best way.
Maybe you saw other people solving a similar problem in such a way, which led you to believe it was the best for you too.
It's essential to know one thing: the solution for your problems is always specific to you and to you alone. It is original and therefore the best for you.
It need not have anything in common with other people, their way of thinking, conditions or abilities. It only depends on you.
For these reasons work on yourself since that is the way which will help you achieve the desired goal.
And remember: think well of yourself and it will be well.
