An old saying tells us: ‘A healthy man has a 1,000 wishes, while a sick man only has one - to be healthy.’
The basic question is how to, in the midst of today’s stressful existence in which leisure time is scarce, find the path to perfect health?
How does one optimally balance various life segments such as health, family and work?
I will briefly explain our body’s functioning mechanism and tell you how to simply and naturally, in ways widely accessible, improve the quality of your life in all aspects.
5 Energy Sources - 5 of Nature’s Doctors
Nature provides us with all the means for a healthy and happy life, as well as the energy sources without which our body and consciousness could not function.
The human body utilizes five universal ways - energy sources for optimal functioning
From birth to death, every human body breathes, eats, drinks water, uses sunlight as well as sleep for regeneration purposes.
Disease and misfortune occur when the balance among these five energy sources is disrupted.
Also, a lack of balance in one regeneration pathway leads to disorder in the others.
1. Sunlight
Sunlight is the source of life on Earth, an element essential for health and feeling well, as the body utilizes it in various metabolic processes, just as with food.
It is scientifically proven that sunlight stimulates the hypothalamus, epiphysis and hypophysis, all very important hormonal glands.
It also stimulates the immune system and provides an increased ability for expelling toxins.
One of the major disadvantages of the modern lifestyle is that’s its often sedentary, where one sits in closed spaces lacking in sunlight and oxygen.
Such a lifestyle, combined with feelings of fatigue and depression, can be accompanied by cravings for consumption of carbohydrates and weight gain.
You sleep longer, but wake feeling tired, pain is present, you are susceptible to repeated infections and your sexual desire is decreased.
You feel swamped with trivialities, and find it difficult to concentrate and think.
What do you do in such conditions?
- Spend time in spaces with more natural light, open windows (especially in the morning) so as to absorb more sunlight.
- Spend 20 to 30 minutes of each day in the sun. Ideal periods to expose yourself are in the morning before 11 o’clock and in the afternoon after 16 o’clock.
- Educate yourself on some of the ancient methods of reenergizing with solar energy, such as Invoking Cosmic Energy.
2. Breathing
"When breathing is disrupted, the mind too becomes upset. Control over one’s breathing enables stability of the mind." - Hatha Yogi Pradipika
Breathing is the most important process of the body.
Breathing expels 70% of toxins and stresses from the body.
As children, we breathe naturally, so as to expand our stomachs when inhaling.
But as we age, faulty habits and a hectic lifestyle cause us to replace this type of breathing with so-called "shallow" breathing. Only 30% to 40% of total lung capacity is used.
Consequences include fatigue, many illnesses and accelerated aging. Everyday pains in the shoulder, back and neck are most often results of improper breathing.
How to Breathe Correctly
Completely correct breathing is comprised of several segments (low or abdominal breathing, middle and high breathing).
When inhaling, it is the abdomen that expands first, followed by the chest cavity and finally the breastbone and collarbone.
It is important to emphasize that one of the rules of correct breathing is nasal breathing.
In order to make a habit of correct breathing, it is necessary to practice the techniques regularly.
This would ideally be practiced twice a day for a few minutes: in the morning to charge yourself with fresh energy and in the evening to release stress and prepare your body for a "restful night".
In order to obtain a habit of breathing correctly, avoid slouching, tightly-fitting clothing and purposefully sucking in your stomach to appear thinner.
Through correct breathing, you achieve hormonal balance, eliminate depression, anxiety and tension and maximize concentration. You regulate emotions and relax the entire body.
This type of breathing massages your internal organs in the abdominal area. As such, you stimulate improved digestion, functioning of the kidneys and reproductive organs, as well as functioning of all other organ systems in the body.
3. Water
Humans’ bodies are made up of 70% water.
Water comprises 90% of the blood, 80% of the brain, 75% of the muscles and 13% of bones.
It is essential for life: it increases health and fitness, aids in the exchange of nutritious substances and the cleansing of the body.
Dehydration, i.e. insufficient consumption of water, is the cause of most modern issues and diagnoses.
A person who consumes 2 to 2.5 l of water daily can reduce their risk of various diseases, such as colon cancer by 50%, breast cancer by 75% and bladder cancer by 45%.
Also, they can reduce headaches, backaches, as well as joint and other pains.
Pure spring water will provide the body with a necessary accumulation of nutritious substances as well as help the expulsion of those unnecessary ones.
Juices, coffee and other beverages cannot make up for the therapeutic properties and role of pure water.
Revive Your Water
You are surely worried, knowing that tap water contains elements such as chlorine, fluorine, aluminum and various other chemicals and heavy metals.
Store-bought water is often said to be "dead water".
"Revive" your water.
That this poses no problem was demonstrated by Japanese scientist Dr. Masaro Emoto.
He showed that water is a living substance which transmits both thought and energy.
Therefore, you can place a glass container of water in the sun for a few hours and thus allow it to purify and energize.
You can stick on these containers various positive affirmations and qualities which you would like to introduce into your own body.
Or rather, immediately prior to drinking the water, you can recite a mental prayer, give thanks, etc., emitting this thought into the water.
A few pieces of advice on water consumption:
- consume 2 - 2.5 l (10 to 12 glasses) daily, divided into smaller amounts
- drink two glasses of water in the morning on an empty stomach, swishing it around in your mouth before swallowing (in this way, water combines with saliva which has a beneficial effect on the body)
- don’t drink water while eating, but rather 30 minutes before or one hour after your meal
4. Food
"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food." - Hippocrates
For proper nourishment, it is important to maintain a balance between concentrations of acidity.
The pH limit is 7.4, and every disbalance caused by stress, processed food and such leads to an increased concentration of acidity within the body, which is a prerequisite for many diseases.
Food can be divided into "live" and "dead", where live food provides the body with energy, while dead food drains it.
An example is fresh and frozen fruit. Fresh fruit provides us with energy and nutritious substances, while fruit which has spent a year in a freezer will not fulfill the body’s energy needs.
It is important to take notice of food quality and eat fresh and organic.
Also, there exist the problem of pesticides and chemicals present in fruit and vegetables, but we will provide you with a simple means to discard of them.
In a dish or bowl filled with water, add a bit of baking soda and salt (in a 1:1 ratio), and then leave your fruits or vegetables to soak in this solution for 30 minutes.
This solution will draw out any pesticides. You may also add vinegar and grapeseed extract.
Drink lots of fresh fruit and vegetable juices and consume food rich in enzymes, avoiding processed and chemically treated ingredients.
Food should be consumed slowly and in controlled portions.
White sugar can be replaced with molasses or stevia.
5. Sleep
Did you know a person will sleep through one third of their life?
Studies have shown that sleep deprivation or poor quality sleep can affect:
- work ability and attention
- overall health (headache frequency, negative mood, aggression, vertigo, fatigue)
- the risk of work-related accidents
The question we most often pose ourselves is what is the optimal number of hours one should sleep?
They are many factors upon which this depends: genetics, sleep hygiene, sleep quality as well as daily rhythm.
But if we fully satisfy our energy intake via the aforementioned energy sources, we will not require much sleep.
Because the most important thing is not length of sleeping, but rather its quality.
Quality sleep will ensure a feeling of alertness and freshness throughout the day, and we will thus be much more resistant to stress.
It is better to have brief, but quality sleep, than lengthier but poorer quality sleep, because the latter causes fatigue, sleepiness and drowsiness.
It is important to mention that all daily stress and all stressful activities disable relaxation of the meridians (energy channels) which conduct prana or energy, a characteristic of which is electricity.
In order for sleep to be of good quality, meridians must be relaxed so as to allow energy to freely circulate.
How to Ensure Quality Sleep
Ideally, you should discover your perfect bedtime.
Immediately prior to bedtime, rid yourself of daily stresses so you don’t carry them over into the night (via the complete deep breathing technique).
Go to bed with a prayer and with positive thoughts such as love, happiness, gratitude for the day, later embarking on a new day with those same intentions.
Before going to sleep, do not ingest heavy foods, otherwise all your energy will be directed at digestion instead of toward regeneration of organs and organ systems. If you are hungry, ideal snacks are a cup of yogurt or an apple.
Avoid watching television immediately before going to sleep, especially films with "heavy" subject matter.
Intense physical exercise prior to going to sleep would excite the nervous system and rouse you, so try to avoid it.
Use meditation to rid yourself of stress and other sources of energy to keep your mind, spirit, and body in complete balance.
An old saying tells us: ‘A healthy man has a 1,000 wishes, while a sick man only has one - to be healthy.’
