The word allergy is of Greek origin and means “to react differently”.
Allergy is a hypersensitive reaction of the body to certain allergens.
Allergens are harmless substances coming from our surroundings causing hypersensitive reactions.
Allergens can enter into our body by breathing (pollen, cat hair, dust…) or through food (wheat, eggs, cow’s milk, and soya…).
Allergies are among the most common chronic conditions that we know of.
Every third person in Europe is suffering from allergy and it is presumed that by 2020 every second person will be affected by allergy.
Types of Allergies
Allergies have many faces and they are differentiated depending on the way the allergens enter into the body.
They can be classified in groups as:
Respiratory Allergies
By each breath we inhale half of liter of air.
Allergens we inhale are everywhere: household dust, pollen, animal hair, textile, abstergents, cosmetics, maggot and mold…
Skin Allergies
Urticaria
Urticaria is a skin rash that affects the whole body or particular parts of the body.
Atopic Dermatitis
It is the most common skin problem that causes inflammation, itching, redness and peeling of the skin.
10-15% of children are suffering from atopic dermatitis. Later in life they can suffer from allergic rhinitis or even asthma.
Allergic Contact Dermatitis
Rash occurs on the skin area that comes directly in contact with allergen.
It should be noted that treating skin with allergy creams can only internally suppress the problem and cause even stronger disorders.
Dr. James Taylor Kent in his book “Lesser Writings” warns of the tragedy of medical suppression in the following way:
“Today, the outbreak of any skin eruption is not allowed. Everything that appears on the skin is suppressed (with allergy creams). If this continues, human race will be extinguished.”
It is important to note that allergies must be treated from within.
Food Allergies
With food allergies, allergic symptoms can appear immediately after eating or in few hours or even weeks.
Common symptoms include digestive problems such as stomach cramps, vomiting, and diarrhea. Skin changes such as urticaria, itching, swelling, redness. Breathing problems such as sneezing, stuffy nose and difficulty with breathing.
Allergy to Cow’s Milk
Generally, symptoms occur in the first 6 months of child’s life, but also disappear until the child reaches 4 years. Allergy to cow’s milk often occurs as atopic dermatitis.
Allergy to Eggs
Allergy to egg-white can appear independently or together with allergy to cow’s milk.
Allergy to Fruits, Vegetables, Nuts and Seeds
Generally allergies are caused by citruses, strawberry, apricot, cherry, peach, kiwi, bananas. They can be caused by vegetables such as tomatoes, paprika, parsley, celery and soya. They can also be caused by nuts and seeds such as hazel nut, pinout, almond, walnut, poppy seeds and sesame.
Allergy to fruits and vegetables is always connected with allergy to pollen.
Allergies to Insect Stings
Allergies can be caused by bee, hornet and wasp stings.
Bee poison causes smaller allergic reaction than wasp or hornet’s poison.
The swelling caused by wasp or hornet sting is bigger with people who are more sensitive to their poison. It is more painful, swelling spreads and last more days.
Bites can cause itching, urticaria throughout the body, swelling of the face, lips, vomiting, diarrhea, suffocating and anaphylactic shock.
Drug Allergies
The most common is penicillin allergy.
Other allergens include sulfate medicaments, barbiturates, anticonvulsants, insulin, local anesthetics and colors injected in veins for X-rays scanning.
How to Help Yourself with Natural Remedies
Grape Seeds Extract
Grape seeds contain resveratrol, quercetin, anthocyanin and pro-anthocyanin.
Resveratrol is the most powerful antioxidant found in nature and its effect is much stronger than in other known antioxidants.
It connects and extracts free radicals from the body. Free radicals cause aging of the body and weaken the immunity system. Grape seeds extract boosts immunity and prevents allergies.
Quercetin found in grape seeds is a strong natural antihistaminic that prevents allergic reactions.
Camu Camu
Camu camu are berries that contain phytochemicals including amino acids such as serine, valine and leucine. They contains more vitamin C than any known plant in the world. It is strong in preventing allergies.
Dried in the form of powder it contains 600 more vitamin C than oranges. It is very concentrated and highly effective. Camu camu is an important source of beta carotene, calcium, iron, niacin, phosphorus, riboflavin and thiamin.
Spirulina
Spirulina is used for detoxification, nourishing of the body and is beneficial for preventing allergies.
It contains 18 amino acids which are highly needed for the human body, of which 8 are essential which means that the human body cannot synthesize.
Spirulina contains various necessary minerals and microelements, including iron, calcium, sodium, potassium, cooper, magnesium, zinc, phosphorus, selenium, all B vitamins (except B12), vitamins C, D, E, beta carotene, linoleic and alfa linoleic acid, chlorophyll and other active substances.
Probiotics
Word probiotic comes from a Greek word “pro bios”, which translated literally means “for life”.
Probiotics help balancing good and bad batteries in our intestine.
Our microflora can be disbalanced due to illness, stress, old age, using antibiotics or other drugs, exposure to toxins, high consummation of alcohol, even using antibacterial soap.
Probiotics decrease toxin production and increase of unwanted microorganisms. Renews intestine flora, prevents autoimmune and allergic reactions in the body.
