Hair loss prevention in 10 easy steps

Daily hair loss is normal and does not lead to baldness.

The normal hair life cycle takes two to three years, and each hair grows about one centimeter in a month.

During this cycle, the old hairs fall off to allow the new ones to grow.

However, if you lose more old hairs than you get new, young ones, you will want to do something to prevent it.

We offer you a few simple tips to maintain and improve the health of your hair.


1. Avoid alcohol

Alcoholic drinks affect hair loss by slowing the growth of hair.

If you wish your hair back to its former luster and fullness, reduce or completely eliminate alcohol from your life.


2. Quit smoking

In addition to numerous other harmful effects, smoking reduces blood flow to the scalp, which causes a reduction in hair growth.

Also, toxic constituents of tobacco smoke are undermining the health of the cells. If you want to have beautiful hair, say NO to cigarettes.


3. Build strong hair with protein

Since hair is composed of proteins, their absence could lead to hair loss.

Include plant and milk proteins in your daily diet. Eat a lot of rice, beans, corn, wheat, rye and barley, or drink whey protein shake.


4. Help your hair with vitamin C

Vitamin C is one of the most important factors for a healthy scalp. Citrus fruits, which include oranges and lemons, are especially rich in vitamin C, as are green peppers.

The suggested doses of vitamin C is 1000 to 3000 mg a day, but if you are prone to kidney stones limit the dose to 500 mg.


5. Protect your hair from stress

B complex vitamins are necessary for hair growth because they improve circulation to the scalp and relieve stress response of the organism.

We recommend you to use the entire B complex, including biotin and folacin, because the nutrients from vitamins work best when taken together.


6. Nourish your hair with vitamin E

Vitamin E is another nutrient needed for hair growth because it stimulates circulation to the scalp.

Take it via food or apply it directly to the scalp. Rich sources of vitamin E are vegetable oils, seeds, almonds and peanuts.


7. Add vitamin A for shiny hair

Vitamin A restores hair shine and vitality. This vitamin acts on the synthesis of fat in the follicles and thus accelerates the hair growth.

Kale, zucchini and carrots are foods that are rich in this vitamin.


8. Speed up hair growth

Iron stimulates circulation in the scalp, thus accelerating the growth of hair.

Include almonds, apricots, raisins and spinach in your daily diet since they are rich sources of iron.


9. Drink plenty of water

Water makes a quarter of each strand. We recommend that you drink at least four to eight glasses of water a day. The best is to drink spring or purified water.

The aforementioned amount includes tea and juices. We recommend unsweetened juices made of freshly squeezed fruit.


10. Be aware of the hormonal balance

Menopausal women produce less female hormones, which slows hair restoration.

It has been shown that taking certain natural remedies can help to balance the hormones.

Some foods, such as soy and wild yam (Dioscorea villosa) contain natural estrogen and are often used in natural products for menopausal women.


What causes hair loss


Many factors can lead to hair loss.

  • Several months after an illness or difficult operations, you can suddenly lose a large amount of hair, which could be due to elevated stress hormones such as cortisol.
  • Thyroid disease often causes hair loss.
  • Birth control pills on hormonal base can adversely influence your hair.
  • Many women notice that their hair is falling off within three months after childbirth.
  • Hair loss can be caused by certain medications, such as those against blood coagulation, gout, high blood pressure, heart disease and depression.
  • Fungal infections of the skin can trigger hair loss in children.
  • Hair loss sometimes occurs as a component of diseases such as lupus or diabetes.
  • Some hairstyles can trigger hair loss, especially if you wear long braids or use tight curlers.
  • Hot hair oil or chemicals used for making permanent curls can cause inflammation of the hair follicles, which can lead to damages and hair loss.
  • Hair loss can be caused by genetic factors.
