My next journey through the world of Ayurveda leads us to Germany, to a small village Pocking which is located only 10 minutes’ drive from Munich.
In Pocking there is a small private clinic which is known by its charm, elegance and nobility.
Clients and guests are offered the best things one ayurvedic clinic can offer.
Ayurveda teaches how to perfectly balance your life.
The first step is to discover your unique physical, mental and emotional nature and also to discover any imbalance in your body.
This you can know if you first find out which type of dosha you belong to.
After years of experience, we ayurvedic therapists, can easily detect (at first sight) which dominating dosha i.e. physical type some person has.
Vatta person is characterized by fragile, skinny bodily constitution, dry skin, quick speech, anxious or worried look.
Pitta person is characterized by middle, athletic bodily constitution, sensitive to heat, sharp look and inclined to anger.
Kapha person is characterized by good nature, calm, slow, kind, strong boned and inclined to gaining weight.
Vishesh – Perfect Massage for Pitta Types
Massage is an introduction to every Panchakarma treatment. By know you have been introduced to Abhyanga and Udvartana.
Abhyanga is a perfect massage for vatta types and Udvartana is a perfect massage for kapha types.
It can be said that pitta types love a strong sport massage. Therefore the perfect massage for pitta types is Vishesh.
Vishesh is composed of two parts – dry massage called Garshana and firm oil massage Vishesh.
Garshana means in Sanskrit dry brushing and the word Vishesh means special.
This massage can be performed once a week in order to revitalize and refresh your body.
It is performed by strong pressures and has a deep effect on relaxing the locomotive system i.e. the muscle tissue, tendons and bones.
It stimulates and boosts circulation by which it cleanses the muscle tissue from accumulated toxins. It lubricates wrists and muscles and improves their flexibility.
It is highly recommended for athletes and all those whose body is tired from physical exertion and work.
The first phase of the treatment (dry brushing) is done by raw silk glows with energetic and slow hand movements.
This process removes death skin cells, improves blood and lymph circulation and eliminates toxins.
Regular Vishesh massage decomposes, lowers and removes fat deposits in certain parts of the body.
Garshana makes your skin smooth while at the same time it relaxes and energizes the body.
Vishesh Treatment
1. Preparation
Prepare the material for oil massage as described for Abhyanga (heated sesame, olive or coconut oil depending on which oil suits you, especially facial oil if you have sensitive skin).
It is better to do this massage in the morning before showering because it will refresh you and make you awake.
Showering after the treatment is necessary to remove all impurities released during the massage.
2. Garshana
Take raw silk glows (or glows made from some other natural material).
Start the massage by energetically and easily massaging your whole body except the face and the area around the heart.
At first start with a gentle pressure if your skin is sensitive.
Remember, your moves must be directed towards the heart.
Massage the neck area, hands and legs by making long moves directed towards the heart.
Massage by circular movements areas around your stomach, behind and wrists (shoulders, elbows, metacarpus, hips, knees and ankles).
Thoroughly massage your body.
Apply gentle moves in the area of legs in case of varicose veins, areas where the skin is thin and avoid inflammatory areas (skin infections).
Garshana should last at least 5 minutes and it should be performed every morning because it has many benefits.
Skin pores are being opened, accumulated toxins in the body are being removed, muscle tension is reduced and metabolism is improved. This all results in increased vitality.
Dry skin brushing removes stress and relaxes the mind.
If you decide to do only Garshana don’t forget to take a shower in order to remove all impurities released during massage.
After you have finished Garshana your body is prepared to receive all the benefits of nutritive warm oil.
3. Vishesh
Take warm oil and start performing Vishesh.
Vishesh has many similarities with Abhyanga but here massage movements are slow and deep in order to stimulate circulation and release the tensions in the body and muscles.
In case Vishesh massage movements are directed from the heart, opposite to Garshana.
This firm massage helps in releasing tensions and suppressed emotions.
First massage your face and head just like in Abhyanga.
Then start massaging your body by using strong, firm and deep movements.
Be careful in case of varicose veins. In this area the pressure must be gentle and mild.
Make circular movements around your wrists and long sliding movements when massaging your hands and legs.
Don’t forget to massage your shoulders and neck because in this area there are many tensed muscles and knots caused by stress.
After finishing the treatment it is ideal to rest for 10 minutes.
Then shower with warm water.
Now you are filled with new energy and ready for a new day to start!
