Eighty thousands different, untested chemicals, which have not proven to be safe, are used around the world.

Many of them are known to be dangerous, but they are unfortunately still on sale.

These 12 chemicals are extremely dangerous and can undermine not only your health, but also the health of your offspring.

Avoid them as much as possible!

1. DEET (dietiltoluamide) is the active ingredient in products for protection against insects.

Most people use repellents with this ingredient, which proved to be toxic to the central nervous system.

Fortunately, there are natural insect repellents. Repel mosquitoes with the help of candles with eucalyptus and citronella essential oils.

2. Glyphosate - the most widely used herbicide in the world - it is associated with birth defects, damage to DNA, hormonal disorders, cancer and neurological disorders.

Get rid of this weed killer forever. Remove weeds using natural methods - with boiling water or vinegar, or remove it manually.

3. Phthalates are commonly found in air fresheners, plastic containers, plastic toys and cosmetics. They are found in paints and wood preservatives.

Phthalates disrupt the endocrine system which may cause reproductive and neurological damage. Phthalates are blamed for premature menopause in women and decreased male fertility.

Throw away household plastic cups, spoons and water bottles.

Avoid products packaged in plastic packaging and cheap Chinese plastic toys. Use natural cosmetics.

4. Bisphenol A (BPA) is found in many items you use every day, such as bottles for children, CD boxes and packaging for food and beverages.

Scientists have linked BPA to heart disease, diabetes and liver abnormalities, as well as problems in brain and hormone development in fetuses and children.

Purchase only BPA-free plastics with recycling codes 1, 2 or 5, since recycling codes 3 and 7 probably include BPA or phthalates.

5. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are gases emitted from certain solids or liquid substances.

These unsafe substances are enhancing air pollution and are linked to asthma and cancer.

Paints, pesticides, paints, building materials and office equipment may contain VOCs.

But the biggest culprit for VOC emissions in homes are scented laundry detergent.

Instead, buy an odor-free detergents based on plant materials and colors that do not contain VOCs.

6. Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) are used to inhibit fire. They are associated with hormonal disorders, developmental disabilities and cancer, and are used in the furniture and electrical equipment.

Tests showed that 96 percent of pregnant women have these toxic chemicals in their blood.

When buying new furniture, always ask the manufacturers which types of inhibitors are used.

7. Perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) are used in non-stick cookware (Teflon) and fabrics resistant to stains.

PFC can cause birth defects and cancer. It turned out that there are found in high concentrations in breast milk.
Instead of Teflon cookware, use utensils made of stainless steel or cast iron. Avoid buying furniture resistant to stains.

8. Perchloroethylene (PERC) is a chemical used in dry cleaning; fortunately it is banned in Europe and Canada.

PERC has a toxic effect on the liver, kidneys and central nervous system, and it is believed that it is a carcinogenic.
Today green dry cleaners are available, cleaners that use cleaning methods without chemicals.

9. Formaldehyde is one of the most toxic and most common chemicals that can penetrate into your body.

It is used in carpentry, soaps, cosmetics, building materials, detergents, furniture and adhesives.

Formaldehyde is an extremely toxic carcinogen marked by the US Environmental Association as a serious cancer threat.

To reduce exposure to formaldehyde buy wooden furniture, use natural cosmetics, and if you build a house, ask about the materials that will be used for construction.

10. Triclosane is used for the development of antibacterial soap. These soaps provide protection against bacteria, thus creating super-bacteria resistant to antibiotics.

When triclosane is mixed with chlorinated tap water, it creates toxic gas chloroform. Do not use antibacterial soap. Switch to natural alternatives.

11. and 12. Chlorine and ammonia are lethal ingredients commonly used in household cleaners, including products for cleaning the toilet and oven.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has found that chlorine byproducts are 300,000 times more carcinogenic than chemical pesticide DDT.

Instead of them use natural and harmless cleaning agents such as baking soda, lemon juice, vinegar, hydrogen peroxide and castile soap.
