American music icon Whitney Houston is another tragic drug victim.
According to the latest information from the media, there were no drugs found near Whitney when she died, but there were prescribed medicaments.
It is assumed that these medicaments caused the death of Whitney Houston.
As reported by the American media, "plenty of medicaments were found in the Whitney’s room, among them were Lorazepam, Valium, Xanax and sleeping medicaments."
Whitney Houston also took Xanax, a psychiatric medicament for depression
According to the statements of Houston's family members, she was taking Xanax, a powerful psychotropic drug known to cause erratic behavior and suicidal thoughts.
Although Xanax is not an SSRI drug, its side effects include:
- aggression
- rage and hostility
- twitches and tremors
- mania, agitation
An overdose of Xanax may cause:
- dizziness
- fainting
- coma
- death
DSM-IV - Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders - strongly recommends prescription of Xanax, and in recent years the use of this drug has increased significantly.
Whitney Houston was showing clear symptoms of harmful side effects
Just two days before the tragic end, Whitney Houston appeared at the party on the eve of the Grammy Awards.
According to the eyewitnesses, that evening Whitney looked "lost and listless." When security guard tried to help her get in the car, she reacted angrily and pushed him.
Although she was smiling at the fans that approached her, they all noted her bad mood. When she was leaving she was visibly tottering from which it was clear that she cannot control her own body.
Because of the aforementioned reasons, it is clear that her behavior and condition was a direct consequence of taking psychiatric medicaments or drugs (or both together).
Since this was not the first time Whitney acted like that, it is clear that her medications significantly affected her brain function, personality and behavior.
Heath Ledger was also killed by medicaments
And the celebrated American actor Heath Ledger died from medicaments.
But remember, for every celebrity that dies of drugs that doctors prescribe for them, hundreds of thousands of ordinary people die of the same effect, but nobody writes about them.
According to statistics, every year more than 200.000 Americans die from the effects of medicaments, even if they use medicament according to doctor's instructions.
Number of people dying from medicaments is infinitely greater than the number of people that died in the terrorist attack on the U.S. on September 11th.
And while the U.S. is fighting against all kinds of terrorism by introducing new checks, laws and guards, absolutely nothing is being done against a real holocaust that is committed daily by medicaments.
Whitney Houston was just another American that was killed by a large pharmaceutical industry, which has always been more concerned about profits than about the lives of real people.
This time the world has lost an artist whose life was cut short by addiction and the whole "drug culture" that exists in our society.
Addicts need help, not condemnation
People addicted to medicaments and drugs need help and support, not a punishment and condemnation by society.
According to American law, Whitney Houston was to be sentenced for abusing drugs.
Our society must respond to addictions with compassion and aid, not revenge and retribution.
If there was a good system of protection of medicament addicts (and drugs), Whitney Houston and many anonymous victims would be alive today.
Among the supporters of the decriminalization of light drugs is an American singer Tony Bennett, who stresses that the addicts could then seek help and compassion, without the risk of being condemned and marginalized.
"First Michael Jackson and Amy Winehouse, and now a magnificent Whitney Houston," said Bennett.
As long as we look at addicts as common criminals, the government will continue to implement its policy of chasing them and will do nothing to prevent the causes of this scourge.
We should not blame medicaments, but the pharmaceutical industry, which has transformed our society into a society addicted to medicaments and drugs.
