If you are a fan of homemade drinks, make this refreshing iced tea of elderberry, mint and lemon.
Elderberry, which is blooming these days, is a natural treasury of immunity-boosting nutrients.
It helps relieve allergies and acts as a natural remedy for cleansing of the organism.
It also nourishes the skin, protecting it from spots and freckles.
Apart from having refreshing properties, mint helps maintain good oral health, aids digestion and reinforces immunity.
Lemon, rich in vitamin C, helps defend the body from infections and supports weight loss.
All together, these ingredients combine to create a special beverage you will enjoy over a meal, during a break or an afternoon hangout in the open.
Ingredients:
- 1,2 litres water
- 2-4 heads of elderberry flowers
- mint leaves
- juice of half a lemon
Preparation:
Pour boiled water over freshly picked elderberry flowers. Cover and let it sit for 10 minutes, then strain.
Let the tea cool and add fresh mint leaves, lemon juice and ice cubes (optional).
The tea is naturally sweet, but you can additionally sweeten it with your favourite sweetener (honey or stevia) and decorate it with pieces of fruit before serving.
Enjoy!
