The other day on the Internet I came across a survey regarding fruit and vegetable peels, to remove it or not, so I decided to write about it.
So, the survey interviewed a couple of passers-by and asked them whether they remove the peel off the fruits and vegetables before eating and cooking.
All participants said that always remove it because it contains pesticides.
Unfortunately, many do not know that vegetables release most of their nutrients in the water during cooking. We pour that water out and eat vegetables without vitamins.
This is exactly what happens when you peel fruits and vegetables.
If you cook vegetables with their peel on, vegetables will maintain most of the nutrients. That is the method all vegetables should be terminally processed, and the peel should be removed only after cooking.
Now we come to the problem of pesticides.
Pesticides are products of chemical origin intended for the protection of plants from weeds, diseases, insects and other harmful organisms.
We all know that pesticides are poisonous and harmful to our health. Most of pesticides are found in the peel fruit and vegetables. That is the reasons why we are reluctant to eat vegetable and fruit peels.
The truth is that many chemical substances from pesticides remain in the peel of fruit and vegetables even when they are thoroughly washed.
Grow your own or buy homegrown
What to do in this case, without losing nutrients from fruits and vegetables?
The answer is very simple: use organic or homegrown fruits and vegetables!
The best solution is to grow it at home in your own garden. Another option is to purchase fruits and vegetables at the market or in bio stores.
Unfortunately, prices of organically grown fruits and vegetables are too high, but you can be sure that you are eating healthy food, which has not been treated with pesticides and does not contain GMO compounds.
My opinion is that it pays to give more money for homegrown fruits and vegetables, since they are not only healthier, but also tastier and sweeter than fruits and vegetables treated with pesticides.
Personally, I grow a lot of fruits and vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes, strawberries etc.) and the only cost that I had was buying seed that were not being treated with pesticides.
Everything else was just my time spent working and maintaining plant seeds.
So I'm sure I'm eating healthy and nutritious fruits and vegetables, and my finances are in place.
In this way I do not spend abnormal amounts of money on eco fruits and vegetables, and I do not need to worry about pesticides.
I believe that this is the healthiest way of life, and we should all engage into planning our own gardens and start growing fresh fruits and vegetables.
Pesticides are history. People have been informed and I think it is time for us to start investing in our own health and the health of our families.
Shop with caution
If you are buying fruits and vegetables at the market, it is best to test it in the following manner:
Cut the fruit or vegetables, an apple for example, and leave it overnight. If the apple does not become black, but white and remains "intact" – that apple was treated with pesticides or is GMO apple.
Many moms who tend to buy organic food for your baby tested fruits and vegetables using this method.
Unfortunately, you can be cheated even on the market.
Despite the word "untreated and domestic," it turns out that the vegetables are still sprayed and treated with toxic compounds in order to protect them from insects and other organisms. So be careful and choose carefully.
You care about yourselves and your body and eat healthy and quality food.
I am growing my own vegetables and cook them with their peel on, do you?
