From time to time, we find information in the media about using parts of aborted human fetuses in dietary, medicinal and cosmetic products.
Among such products we find non-alcoholic beverages, chocolate products, candies, chewing gums, soups, cosmetic crèmes, vaccinations and medicines.
Is it possible that science fiction scenario of science fiction movie Soylent Green, in which the ruling elite feeds people with cookies made of human flesh, is coming into existence?
Such information come from the USA and are then broadcasted in the media around the world.
That is why we can occasionally find an article about the supposed scandalous presence of human fetuses in food items, make-up and medicines.
Such information causes a real shock among the people, so we have decided to investigate them.
Where is the evidence hidden?
Fortunately, it is highly unlikely that such statements are true.
Accusation regarding the usage of human fetuses in products lacks material evidence and motive.
To what end would someone do something so crazy and illegal?
Maybe to enhance the taste of food or effectiveness of crèmes? There is no indication that fetuses could be used for achieving such effects.
Who delivers these aborted fetuses to such producers? It is hard to imagine anyone would do such a thing.
In which laboratories were the remains of fetuses in food, cosmetics and medicines discovered? There is not one. There is no evidence, not even indications.
Yet, regardless of that, American and other media sometimes spread panic that products consumed by ordinary citizens contain the tissue of aborted fetuses.
Real facts:
Neocutis.Inc is the only cosmetic company in the world that uses fetus tissue in its cosmetic products.
In South Korea digestion tablets containing fetus tissue were discovered. The medicine was withdrawn from the marked and labeled as illegal.
Vaccination: since the 1960’s fetus tissue is used for the production of certain vaccines since some vaccines cannot be produced without the tissue of someone who already suffered from that disease. Because of that, but also because of other health reasons, we recommend you to avoid vaccinations.
In medicinal research on stem cells, stem cells from fetuses that are 4-5 days old are used. That is the reason why this research is so controversial and why stem cell application in medicines remains a hotly debated topic.
Who is spreading the propaganda?
There are two assumptions why such disinformation is being published.
It has been noticed that such propaganda is primarily used by organizations close to the Church that wishes to influence women when they are making the decision regarding abortion.
In order to turn the public against abortion, such institutions spread propaganda that the bodies of aborted fetuses are found in various foods and cosmetic products.
They believe people will be so disgusted that they will rise against abortion.
We do not encourage abortion, but we believe that spreading false information is inappropriate.
The second reason for such propaganda is to turn the public against the scientific research on stem cells taken from fetuses that are up to five days old.
It is well known that the Church and its institutions are against such research because of their religious beliefs.
Politicians cause additional disorder
The panic related to human fetal tissue is spreading on political level also.
Last year, Oklahoma state secretary (USA), Ralph Shortey, proposed a law that would “ban the production of food or products containing the tissue from aborted human fetuses.”
But he did not specify which food items and products contain such tissues.
On that question he simply said: “I am not sure whether this is happening in Oklahoma, maybe it is, maybe it is not. But if it is, we will ban it.”
American National public radio suggested that the purposes of that law was not to ban (non-existing) use of fetuses in food and other products, but to convince voters to stand against abortion and stem cell research.
Producers astonished
Portal Gawker.com send questions to some of the companies that were accused by the media for using aborted human fetuses.
Companies reacted with content or with astonishment and claimed that they have never used such tissues in their products.
Hillary Green from Nestlé public relations department shortly responded: “Nestle does not use aborted human fetuses in its products.”
In the name of PepsiCo, a representative of public relations department, Margaret Corsi, replied that: “it is wrong to suggest that tissues or cells from human fetuses were in any manner used as ingredients of our products. That is dangerous, amoral and illegal.”
A similar response was given by Wendy (food production company), while a part of companies did not even respond.
Maybe they consider such assumption to absurd to even respond to it.
In any case, scandalous statement about the usage of human fetuses in food and cosmetic, fortunately, has no evidence.
But, that does not mean we should not be careful when selecting food and cosmetics since today such products contain a variety of other strange and harmful substances.
