GMO -'' The seeds of destruction'' |

"The expansion of genetically modified crops and foods around the world today has caught so much momentum that it can and must be declared a crime against humanity. "
These words were written by a journalist William Engdahl in 2005 in his book ''The seeds of destruction''.
As time goes on, his words are increasingly gaining importance.
In recent years the number of people who suffer from allergies, cancer and other serious diseases has rapidly increased all over the world, as well as people who are being treated for infertility.
It is the time to ask ourselves whether it might have something to do with GM food?
Judging by the alarming results of independent experts, it is a reasonable conclusion.
What do latest researches say
The prestigious journal Food and Chemical Toxicology in September 2012 published a paper by a team of scientists led by professor Seralini from French university Caen, which proves that GM food is very dangerous.
A study on rats lasted for two years – unlike other studies that were used to prove that GM food is safe for humans which lasted only 3 months.
The results show that GM corn can cause tumors and shorten lifespan.
In rodents, the death rate was twice as high, and kidney and liver damage were five times higher than average.
It was found that 93% of tumors in females appeared only in the second year of life, which in humans corresponds to the age of 35-40 years.
Based on research conducted in Italy, whose results were published in The Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry, rodents fed with GM corn had developed immune system disorders.
In humans, these changes are associated with allergies, arthritis, bowel inflammation and autoimmune diseases.
Russian scientists led by Dr. Surov published two years ago their sensational results of two-year research during which it was discovered that hamsters fed with GM food had completely lost the reproductive ability by the third generation.
Are we aware of what we eat?
In considering this issue we look at Croatia, noting that the situation is similar or worse in all the countries that opened their door to GMO.
Food works in mysterious ways, so without going into detail, we can conclude that we do not really know what we eat.
The fact you bought food from local producers does not necessarily mean that it is home-made food.
It is probable that the domestic producer processed and/or packaged in his own packaging something that came from who knows where.
In 2004 we have already had a scandal with salami produced by a famous producer which was found to contain imported soybeans with GMO content above allowed level and the product had to be removed from the market.
What we eat for years will remain a mystery.
But, we still know something: according to the law, only products that contain, consist of or are produced of genetically modified rapeseed, soy, corn and cotton can be placed on the market and such products do not have to be labeled as GMO products providing the GMO content are under 0.9%.
However, if we talk about the famous percentage of 0.9 percent, Valerije Vrčak, PhD., a Professor at Pharmacy and Biochemistry Faculty, University of Zagreb, warns us that this is not a scientifically established percentage.
It is an arbitrary compromise that is not based on any medical or toxicological studies, and as such it does not guarantee the health of humans, animals and the environment.
However, if the product contains more than 0.9 percent of GMOs, it is hard to see that, since the letters on labels are so small that you need to read them with a microscope - probably because authorities do not want you to be worried about what you are eating.
Competent institutions also do not protect us. Sanitary inspection checks only ten products in five cities, a total of two hundred products a year, so they make an occasional discovery.
For example, in late March of this year they found the unauthorized GMO rice in rice pasta from Austria and the Italian pasta made of rice flour and rice noodles from the Netherlands.
Unfortunately, we can only guess what else is hidden on the shelves of Croatian stores.
Who are the rulers of life and death
During the 70’s Kissinger summed up the whole philosophy in one sentence:'' Control the oil and you will control the country. Control food and you will control people''.
As for the food, never in the history of the world has so great power been in the hands of so few people.
I.e., the largest producer of GMO seeds like Monsanto, Syngenta, Dow and Du Pont.
And those products are, unfortunately, prevailing in the vast regions of the world largely with the help of blackmail and political pressure.
According to Engdahl, this is a conspiracy aimed at reducing the number of people in the world - because there is too much of us.
Since GM foods slowly poison the body, shortening the life span and preventing reproduction, this plan really is feasible.
This theory was extensively supported in a book'' The seeds of destruction'' with documents from the U.S. government from which the mark of secrecy had been removed.
GMO has flooded the world in recent years, and judging by this, America is on the track to achieve the dream of complete control of oil and food in the world.
In doing so they did not care to spare even their own people, let alone people from other countries.
It is known that bees do not pollinate GMO plants, and as old people say – when the bees disappear, so will we.
Wikileaks has released data that reveal how the US company Monsanto (the world's largest producer of genetically modified seeds) has directly threatened countries that have refused GMO food.
Monsanto has explicitly requested from the United States to economically "punish" states that refused to cooperate. Various terms such as “economic war” are also mentioned.
For example, Monsanto asked the US to put a pressure on France, which has decided to ban some types of genetically modified corn seeds.
We should also mention that a multinational corporation Monsanto, which is one of the leading companies in the world (if not the first) when it comes to profit that comes from GMO products, is on the list of the ten most dangerous corporations in the world.
Monsanto has created and encourages the consumption of foods containing GMOs.
One of the 'big' inventions of the company is seed called 'Terminator', which provides a sterile fruits in order to force the farmers to always buy tons and tons of seeds for the next planting season.

Please note that the GMO ingredients do not have to be listed on product labels, so you probably won’t find them there.
Unfortunately, this list contains many brands that are the favorite ones to many people, such as Milka chocolate, Pringles chips and Orbit chewing gums.
