According to Ayurveda regular consumption of hot boiled water boosts immunity, gives strength and energy.
In our western part of the world, same as at the East, drinking hot water is a common thing.
In Russia, Ukraine and similar countries “kipjatok” is being kept in tea urns and drank regularly instead of cold water.
In countries such as India, China and Japan drinking hot water and hot beverages is a common thing. It has been the part of the thousand year’s tradition.
If people are using something for thousands of years, from generation to generation, there has to be some benefit in it.
Why Do We Boil Water?
The reasons for boiling water are many. The most basic reason is that by boiling water all microorganisms in the water are destroyed, same as the sedimentation of chemical dross.
At home, if you take some water and boil it for 5 minutes and then let it cool you will find a thick sedimentation of toxic and damaging substances. Therefore, the first result will be that water would become microbiologically and chemically pure.
The second purpose of boiling water is more subtle but not less important. Water is the basic element for various biochemical reactions that constantly occur in our body.
Water and fire are the basis of chemistry especially biochemistry.
Fire Called Agni
Common denominator for all metabolic processes in the body is pita dosha. Literally pita means “acid” and therefore the word indicates digestion and biochemical processes.
According to Ayurveda, pita dosha consists of water and fire.
The main part of this principle is agni which means fire in Sanskrit language.
It represents the digestion fire and it is responsible for digesting everything the person eats, drinks, smells, hears, seas and touches… Agni transforms everything that comes into spirit and body.
Boiling Brings Agni Into Water
When we drink water that was not boiled, our internal agni has to digest all bacteria, parasites, spores and molds contained in the water. If agni is weak sickness occurs.
That is why many westerners get dysentery when they come to India. On the other hand if the external agni destroys these unwanted substances the sickness will not occur.
Now it is clearer why food and water are cooked or boiled.
In the past, while people were cooking on open flames this process was visible to our eyes – by cooking the fire or agni was imported into the cooked substance.
Boiled water contains extra agni which is easily digested in the body and which boosts immunity.
Regular drinking of boiled water boosts immunity system, strength and energy. This is especially important for people who are already sick.
When Does Hot Water Help
Generally all diseases occur due to sedimentation of body toxins.
When agni is strong useful food parts are absorbed while participating in normal tissue development while non-useful food parts are disposed through intestine and urine.
But if agni is weak some part of the food is not being absorbed nor disposed. It remains in the intestines where it rots and creates sticky substance of unpleasant smell called ama.
Sedimentation of ama in various parts of the body is the basis of every disease.
This is why Ayurveda recommends drinking hot, boiled water. It is most evident in the case of high temperature.
In acute condition, when high temperature is the consequence of a cold or a flu, Ayurveda recommends drinking water that is half cold and half hot.
Therefore, boil 1 liter of water until there is only ½ a liter of water remaining. Pour it into the bottle. If the patient drinks one or two sips of water every half an hour, the fever will go away.
The water should not be too hot to burn your tongue, but warm as tea.
Regular drinking of boiled water (you must boil it until 75% of the fluid remains) is recommended for all chronic diseases such as asthma, arthritis, colitis, migraines, sinusitis, angina pectoris and other heart problems, cellulite, obesity etc.
Recipe for Deep Healing
If you are suffering from chronic fever this indicates that ama is situated and rooted deeply in the body tissue. If that is the case Ayurveda recommends its famous recipe – Shadangpania. Water is boiled until 2/5 of water remains.
Boil one liter of water until 0.4 liter of water remains and give the patient to drink. During the therapy patient should not take anything except hot water. Therapy can last for 3 days depending on the strength of the patient and illness.
This therapy can be conducted only under doctor’s surveillance.
Strong Agni – Healthy Human
Agni is the basis of autoimmune system and it absorbs damaging substances that can affect your body, whether they are microorganisms, toxins, body waste, emotions, climate effects etc.
One who has strong agni will resist every illness. On the other hand, weak agni leads to sedimentation of dangerous substances in the body and leads to various acute or chronical diseases.
Make your agni strong and secure a long life and optimal health.
