Superfoods: bee products, seaweed and super-plants

Bee Products

Indians used them for thousands of years, the Egyptians for at least 7500 years; the Babylonians knew their medicinal properties.

In the Western world, the benefits of bee products were discovered "accidentally", by observing the life of native beekeepers living in Russia. Their life expectancy was over 100 years and they all consumed bee products every day.

 

Royal Jelly 

Royal jelly, also known as the queen of bee products, is a complex natural substance produced in the glands of honeybees. Queen bees feed almost exclusively on this food and live 40 times longer than other bees.

Royal jelly is a treasure trove of nutrients that contains everything you need for life. The food is the best source of pantothenic acid, which is also known as vitamin B5. Pantothenic acid effectively prevents stress, fatigue and insomnia and is essential for healthy skin and hair.

Royal jelly a is known immunostimulant for all ages, strengthens the nervous system, restores energy and gives vitality.

 

Pollen

Pollen is collected by bees from plants during flowering. Then the pollen is stored in the honeycomb as a source of protein, important vitamins and minerals.

Pollen is the most perfect food you can find in nature. It contains five to seven times more protein than meat. Pollen is a perfect source of vitamins A, B, C, D, E, K, of 28 minerals and trace minerals. Of the 22 known amino acids, all are found in the pollen.

Pollen also contains many enzymes and coenzymes important for digestion. Such a wealth of nutrients is not found in any other product.

Pollen is a natural antidote to allergies, especially pollen fever and sinusitis. Studies show that pollen prevents aging and increases mental and physical abilities of the organism.

 

Propolis

Propolis is a resinous substance produced by processing vegetable juices, which bees collect from various plants. Bees use propolis for hive hygiene - to defend their hive from intruder attacks, including infection-causing microbes.

Otherwise, bee hives are known as the most sterile places in nature - and all that thanks to propolis!  

People have long used propolis as a natural antibiotic, which protects against bacteria and strengthens the immune system. Unlike ordinary antibiotics, propolis also has an effect on viruses.

Studies show that taking propolis in flu and cold season reduces the risk of developing those diseases by as much as 53%. Propolis is effective in the treatment of cough, sore throat, sinusitis and tonsillitis.

Propolis creme is an excellent tool for treating fungal and bacterial skin infections.


Seaweed

Seeweed (macroscopic, multicellular marine algae) is full of nutrients, because it has access to all the nutrients in the sea. For example, seaweed contains 10 times more calcium than milk.

The chemical composition of seaweed is very similar to human blood plasma. Therefore, one of the biggest benefits of seaweed is its effect on the health of our blood system.

Seaweed cleanses and alkalises our blood, neutralises the effects of acidic foods, protects against a wide range of toxic substances, including heavy metals and radiation, by converting them into harmless salts the body can easily eliminate.

Excellent results were achieved with weight loss. Seaweed contains a high concentration of iodine, which stimulates the thyroid gland and promotes fat burning. Eating seaweed and taking seaweed baths will help you reduce cellulite and cleanse the lymphatic system.

 

Nori – the most famous for being used in sushi roulades. You can make your own roles at home. It is best to use adobe sheets of nori seaweed. Find a recipe here.

Kelp - this is the most popular type of seaweed, you can find it in almost any health food store. If you do not like the idea of consuming weed, even seaweed, do not worry - kelp is available in the form of capsules and powder. From kelp leaf you can make warm bath to relax, improve the appearance of your skin and cleanse the body.

Dulse - this red seaweed can be found in the form of flakes. You do not have to cook it, just add it to a salad, soup or a dish of cooked vegetables. If you drink green smoothies, it is a great idea to add a bit of dulse in the mixture. 

Arame - brown kelp. Leave it in hot water for 5 minutes and it is ready to use! 

Wakame - due to its special sweet taste it is a great addition to sandwiches. As arame, soak it for five minutes in hot water and it is ready for consumption. 

Kombu - used in Japan for hundreds of years as a rich source of minerals and as a natural flavor enhancer. Add a bit of kombu to beans or other heavy foods to make them easier to digest.


Super-plants

Medicinal herbs are used for hundreds of years for healing, cleansing and strengthening the body. They supply the body with many important nutrients, regulate and balance the body's performance. It is best not to use the so-called isolated "active" ingredients, but the plants in their natural form.

Nettle - wonderful plant which many herbalists consider a medication for almost all diseases. "Nettle is one of the most useful herbs. If people understood the medicinal value of this plant, they would not cultivate anything but nettle", claim some herbalists. 


Aloe Vera - known since the time of the king Akkad (2100 BC), aloe vera is regarded as the "elixir of life". This claim is not without reason. Aloe Vera contains over 240 nutritional and medicinal ingredients. Its effect on the skin is well known: aloe heals wounds, abrasions, burns, acne, allergic rashes and eczema. For internal use, aloe vera cleanses the body, reduces inflammation, protects against viruses and bacteria.


Echinacea - its name is most often heard in the cold and flu season. Indeed, echinacea is a natural antibiotic and immune-stimulator which helps to fight viruses and bacteria. Echinacea can be taken in the form of capsules or tea. Echinacea tea is known to prevent infections, and is effective with certain types of cancer, such as skin cancer.


Ginseng - irreplaceable food when it comes to treating stress and chronic fatigue. In Asia it has long been known as an energiser and tonic for any age. It is particularly useful for recovering from illness and surgery because of its regeneration and anti-inflammatory properties.


Food is essential

When it comes to health, there are things we cannot change - for example, our genetic factor. But there are things that we can change. Food is one of them.

Use healthy foods, superfoods in particular, to strengthen the mind and body and protect yourselves against many diseases.
