Mango is being used as food and medicine for centuries.

In unani medicine, mango is traditionally used for cleansing the body of toxins, as a cure for anemia and as a remedy for diseases of the nervous system.

Ayurvedic medicine uses the dried flowers of mango for the treatment of diarrhea, dysentery and urinary tract infections.

Fruit, leaves, roots, bark and even mango seeds contain valuable nutrients, particularly phenols and flavonoids.

Because of the wealth of antioxidants, mango holds a high position on the ORAC scale.

This exotic super fruit is rich in vitamins A, B complex (especially B6), C, E and beta carotene, which the body uses for the production of vitamin A.

Furthermore, it contains amino acids; calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium and other valuable ingredients that help maintain good health and appearance.

Today you can purchase mango in almost every major store, so there is no reason not to treat yourselves with this tasty and healing fruit once in a while.

The healing properties of mango

The benefits of mango so far were not fully known in our country, but there is an increasing discussion about its healing properties.

Research confirms that due to the wealth of nutrients, mango effectively treats many diseases, and scientists still have to uncover the whole healing potential and properties of this magnificent fruit.

Previous research has shown beneficial effects of mango on digestion, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, libido, anemia and diabetes.

Mango is also used for improving skin problems and cleansing the body.

Cures cardiovascular system diseases

Fresh mango contains a number of antioxidants, such as beta-carotene and vitamin C, and is therefore considered an ideal food for those who suffer from cardiovascular disease.

Antioxidants neutralize free radicals, increase the mobility of the arteries and reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Removes digestive problems

Mango is rich in dietary fiber, which is why it is recommended in the case of slow digestion.

This fruit contains digestive enzymes that soothe the stomach and help with increased secretion of gastric acid.

Prevents the growth of cancer cells

Scientists from the American Institute of Agronomy published results of research that showed that mango can prevent or even stop the growth of cancer cells.

The best results were achieved with breast, prostate and digestive tract cancer. Mango can thank these properties to phenols and pectin - a soluble dietary fiber.

It is rich in vitamin C, which protects cells from free radicals, reducing the risk of cancer. One fruit contains about 75 percent of the recommended daily value of vitamin C.

Helps with anemia

Due to the high content of iron, mango is recommended for those who suffer from anemia, especially pregnant women and women in menopause.

Pregnant women, to whom doctors have prescribed supplement containing iron, can satisfy a part of their requirements for this element by eating a delicious mango.

Vitamin E in mango plays an important role in the synthesis of sex hormones. Regular consumption of mango helps to increase libido.

Regulates high blood pressure

Fresh mango is a good source of potassium. A hundred grams of fruit have as much as 156 mg of this mineral.

Potassium plays an important role in the transmission of bodily fluids, and the work of the heart and helps control high blood pressure.

Cleanses the skin and removes acne

Mango can be used to clean the skin inside and out.

Eating mango or its application to the face as a natural mask helps clean clogged pores and removes pimples and acne.

Helps with diabetes

Mango leaves also have medicinal properties – they help regulate insulin levels in the blood. Some consider them to be the best natural cure for diabetes.

According to the traditional recipe, leave the mango leaves to soak in water overnight. In the morning, right after getting up, drink the liquid on an empty stomach.

Mango fruit has a low glycemic index, so consumption of fruit will increase your blood sugar level.

Mango in cuisine

Delicious mango is rightly called the king of fruits.

Mango fruit is very juicy, sweet and aromatic. It is popular in the cuisine as an addition to desserts, ice creams, fruit salads and cocktails.

The fresh mango season extends from April to August. However, in supermarkets you can purchase mango from tropical parts of the world, and such fruits are available throughout the year.

Unripe mangoes can be stored at room temperature for several days, and the ripe fruit should be stored in the refrigerator.

Mango can be combined with other fruits in a fruit salad, a refreshing juice or a shake.

You can make a delicious mango jam or use it for sauces, ice cream and cake.

Do not throw away the crust, because it is also edible and contains many nutrients.
