“What is poison in big dosages is a cure in small ones”.
This motto can best be used for honey bee venom.
Unlike famous bee products such as honey, propolis and royal jelly, honey bee venom is less used in treatment, despite its undisputed efficiency.
Nevertheless, honey bee venom – apitoxin, is a powerful remedy for many diseases and is mostly much more effective than regular synthetic medicines.
According to the research conducted by eminent experts, more than 30 positive effects of apitoxin on human organism have been discovered.
Honey bee venom treatment has is known since the ancient times.
First record about it was left to us by Hippocrates, but, it is considered that Egyptians used apitoxin in therapeutic purposes 5000 years ago.
Honey bee stings bring health
Researches conducted around the world, especially in Russia, made a surprising discovery that beekeepers are generally in good health and that they live longer compared to the rest of the population.
Furthermore, it was noticed that beekeepers have significantly lower rates of the tumor and other autoimmune disease occurrences.
That fact is mostly attributed to the effect of honey bee venom, since beekeepers occasionally get stung during their work.
Apitoxin is a bitter colorless liquid similar to snake venom. This unique substance consists of around 18 biologically active compounds, several of which cannot be synthesized.
This venom is most effective when taken from a live honey bee and in the period between late spring and early autumn, when honey bees can find an abundance of pollen. During winter months, honey bee venom is weaker.
The amount of venom used in one honey bee sting is about 0.1 mg. Very few people are allergic to honey bee sting and small swelling on the spot of the sting is a completely normal reaction.
Effects of apitoxin
Honey bee venom has anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and antipyretic properties.
In folk medicine it is long known as an effective remedy against rheum and with time, people realized that it can successfully alleviate the pain.
Furthermore, it has positive effects on appetite enhancement, insomnia, migraine, energy and immunity. Generally, it is a great preventive measure against infectious diseases.
Russian scientists discovered that it can expand blood vessels which enhances blood flow and metabolism performance.
The moment we get stung, our immune system is activated and blood starts circulating more and stronger circulation and increased oxidation levels prevent bacteria development.
Apitoxin opens capillary walls which allows easy and quick excretion of harmful compounds from our body. That way, our metabolism becomes faster and our body becomes filled with oxygen.
Apitoxin therapy has proven to be effective against:
- arthrosis and arthritis
- nerve inflammations (neuritis, sciatica)
- multiple sclerosis
- Parkinson’s disease
- cerebral paralysis
- high blood pressure
- increased cholesterol
- weak circulation
- blood vessel inflammation
- asthma and allergies
- nettle rash
- psoriasis
- wounds and scars
- ovary and oviduct inflammations
- addictions
Acupuncture and apitherapy
Traditional Chinese medicine developed a treatment method that uses honey bee stings in acupuncture points. Satisfactory effect can be achieved by apitoxin injections in the tissue or acupuncture points.
The advantage of that method is a possibility of controlling the amount of venom used. Furthermore, it is possible to find on the market crèmes and lotions that contain apitoxin.
For apitoxin application, sophisticated techniques such as electrophoresis and ultrasonophoresis (introduction of medicaments via ultrasound) are also used, but only if monitored by appropriate experts.
Newer, very optimistic, researches by American scientist targeted elimination of tumor cells, including honey bee venom application via medicinal nanotechnology.
