Crystals are increasingly being used in the prevention and treatment of health problems.

One of the most famous crystals, even among people who refuse to pay due attention to crystals, is certainly amber.

Amber is officially not a crystal, but an extinct conifer resin that is more than 50 million years old and which has been hardened and fossilized.

However, it is believed to have similar effects as real crystals.

Because of its golden-brown or yellow color, it is dubbed "gold of the north", but there are orange, red and white ambers.

Red amber can be found in Mexico and it is considered the most beautiful and is the most expensive amber.

Currency, talisman and drug

Amber is known to people since prehistoric times.

In the Stone Age, it served as a means of payment, and since ancient times it has been used as a remedy for headaches and toothaches, but also as a talisman for warding off the evil forces.

It has always been regarded as a powerful healer and purifier of the body and had a reputation for strengthening the immune system, reducing inflammation and helping heal wounds.

Romans believed that amber protects the body from injury, and amber was worn by many gladiators during the fight.

Preventive and therapeutic properties

Amber is now used as a preventative for many diseases that affect us every day, but also as an effective remedy.

Just as with traditional medicine - crystals have immediate positive effects on some people, while others start feeling their healing effect later.

Amber can be placed in necklaces, bracelets, in the belt around the waist, in a pocket or under bandages.

Crystal therapists propose putting amber on the skin to treat the painful part of the body.

For example, if you hurt a wrist, wrap it with a bandage and place amber under the bandage on the painful part of the body.

Baltic amber is known as a remedy for the painful outbreak of teeth in children. It is used in the form of necklaces that are placed so that they touch the skin of a child.

For women who want to get pregnant, it is recommended to wear amber hanging from their belt or in a pocket.

Benefits of amber

Amber positively affects the functioning of the endocrine system and normalizes the secretion of hormones.

Stimulates the functioning of the thyroid gland, metabolism, and digestion and removes stomach problems.

It alleviates problems with the kidneys, bladder and liver. It also promotes urination and elimination of fluids.

It has antibacterial and antiviral properties and helps with respiratory diseases and asthma.

Furthermore, it gives excellent results in rheumatic disease, joint pain and various skin disorders, reduces inflammation and accelerates wound healing.

It has analgesic properties. Amber necklace helps with relieving pain in children during growth of teeth. Amber oil in massage penetrates through the skin and relieves muscle pain and eases menstrual cramps in women.

Amber encourages a positive state of mind and is often recommended for people who suffer from depression or anxiety. In Chinese medicine, amber powder is used against epilepsy.

Amber attracts love in life and serves as the cornerstone for good luck and protection.

How to take care of amber

Amber, as well as other crystals, should be regularly maintained via discharging, cleaning and filling procedures.

Regular cleaning, emptying and filling of the crystal will restore its energy and bring it up to full strength.

Since amber absorbs pain and negative energy, it must be frequently cleaned, and then be recharged with healing energy.

Cleaning must be very short - the best cleaning method is to use a flow of lukewarm water.

You can wash it in some mild cleaners and wipe it with a plain cotton cloth.

If your amber lost its glow, just rub it with a little olive oil.

Learn how to charge crystals

Before charging any crystal, it is very important to study the instructions regarding the charging of that particular crystal. The heat and light of the sun does not suit all crystals, but only those with an appropriate structure.

Such crystals need about two to three hours to fully charge themselves with the energy of the sun.

Amber is very sensitive and does not tolerate direct sunlight, so it needs to be recharged during the daylight in the shade, or better yet - in the morning and evening when the sun is not very strong.

It is important to avoid charging crystals at noon, when the sun's rays fall vertically to the ground.

There is a group of crystals that are more sensitive than amber, so they need to be charged for a maximum of 30 minutes. Some of them are garnet, azurite and Dalmatian jasper.

If it is a cloudy day, you should have in mind that regardless of the clouds, the sun will still work and the crystals can still recharge their energy.

In case of simultaneous charging of different crystals, it is desirable to place neutral mountainous crystal between them in order to prevent energy clashes.

How to identify genuine amber

Unfortunately, sometimes selling fake crystals is being sold as "amber".

But there is a way in which genuine amber can be identified. You have to heat a thin needle and stick it in the crystal.

If you have genuine amber, you will notice the scent of resin.

If you do not notice that scent or notice some other scent, then you have a glass fake, while the scent of plastic means that your amber is just ordinary plastic.

Amber deposits

The largest deposits of amber are on the shores of the Northern and Baltic Sea. As much as ninety percent of deposits of amber today are located along the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea and amber is taken from the sea.

Waves throw pieces of amber on the shore, but divers are often needed to take out amber from the sea.

There are even large underground mines that are used for mining amber.

Since amber is an ancient resin, it is not rare to find leaves, flowers or insects in it – fossils that remained preserved trough ages trapped in amber.
