Addiction takes many forms. There is addiction to alcohol, drugs, internet, cigarettes, sweets, coffee and many other things.

Some types of addictions are socially acceptable, while others are not.

In the past, addiction was defined as a physical and psychological attachment to psychoactive substances that change the chemical balance in the brain upon consumption.

Now an increasing number of psychologists and doctors have a broader perspective of addiction. Under this concept they include abnormal psychological attachment to things and activities such as gambling, food, sex, computers, internet, work, TV and shopping.

Symptoms of addiction

There are many types of addiction and each type causes a different set of symptoms.

However, some symptoms are common, for example:

  • the need for increasing doses to obtain the same level of satisfaction
  • if a person does not obtain the substance he is addicted to, he  experiences withdrawal - a full range of unpleasant symptoms that have the opposite effect to the substance to which the person is addicted to
  • it becomes increasingly difficult to reduce or control addiction
  • socialising and holidays become more centered around the addiction
  • social life and responsibilities become increasingly ignored
  • the addict becomes increasingly preoccupied with his addiction, much time is spent planning, participating and recovering from activities associated with addiction

The consequences of addiction

A person suffering from addiction often says, "I do not harm anyone except myself." How far from the truth!

Addiction causes many more problems than addicts can imagine. Aside from a host of health problems, there are others, such as:

  • financial problems - the person is willing to spend his and other people's money to finance his addiction
  • crime - addiction is often associated with theft, extortion, violence, etc.
  • troubled relationships - because of how addicted people react and behave, their family and friends often suffer, and their marriages fall apart
  • endangering other people’s lives - for example, drunk driving
  • social problems - people refuse to participate in social life. They often withdraw and refuse or are unable to work, support their family etc.

Addiction is a real problem for both addicts and society.

How to cure addiction with the help of alternative methods

Addiction is a path which people have in most cases chosen consciously. The only chance to heal from an addiction is to have a strong desire to take a different path in life.

If a person does not want to resolve his addictions, nobody will be able to help him.

However, if the person strongly wants to be cured, there are several ways to help such person using alternative methods.

1. Strengthening of desire

Attitude is important. A person must develop a strong desire to get rid of his addiction. A person can work alone on his views, but close friends and family members can also offer help and support.

There are methods that can directly or subtly influence our consciousness and subconsciousness. These methods can help us change the attitude and strengthen our desire to make a positive change and get healthy again.

For such purposes you can use:

  • affirmation
  • subliminal messages
  • neurolinguistic programming (NLP)
  • emotional freedom technique (EFT)
  • psychotherapy

2. Nutritional supplements

Some plants can facilitate the process of detoxification.

Noni is probably the No. 1 plant for addiction in the world.

Noni contains proxeronin which is converted into xseronin in the body. Xeronin is naturally present in our body and plays an important role in the biochemical processes.

It has long been known that addiction takes place at the molecular level.

For example, when we smoke, the body is flooded with nicotine. The structure of alkaloids, such as nicotine, cocaine and heroin is very similar to the structure of xeronin.

When nicotine enters the bloodstream, the body begins to use it in biochemical processes instead xeronin. Over time, the nicotine increasingly strengthens the molecular structure of the body.

After quitting, the body cannot function normally, because each cell is missing nicotine. That is why the pain, depression and discomfort occur in the process of detoxification.

If a person is still able to abstain from smoking, after a while the body will again start using xeronin and grading all the processes in the body will return to normal.

The additional intake of xeronin can help overcome addiction and promote the recovery process. This is confirmed in practice, as noni has helped many people addicted to alcohol and drugs.

Among other dietary supplements that are used to treat addiction are ryegrass, kava kava (Piper methysticum), ashwagandha and aloe vera.

3. Acupuncture

In 1972 H. L. Wen, a homeopath from Hong Kong, noted that stimulating certain points can relieve the patients' withdrawal symptoms.

Later, the research was carried out on the sample of 40 people addicted to heroin and opium. The goal was to help patients using acupuncture and electro-stimulation.

Research results have confirmed that acupuncture can really relieve the withdrawal symptoms.

Dr. Scott uses acupuncture and believes that this technique can relieve depression, anxiety and pain and help restore the emotional balance.

Dr. Scott recommends addicts to contact a qualified expert in this field and, if possible, use disposable needles.

4. Homeopathy

The potential of homeopathy in the treatment of addiction has been investigated for many years.

The most effective way to use homeopathic remedies is to find a drug that exactly matches the symptoms of the disease.

For example, if a food addiction is associated with anxiety and sensitivity, it is necessary to use a homeopathic remedy that matches the symptoms.

Here is a list of homeopathic remedies which can be used in the treatment of addiction:

  • Avena Sativa: opium, morphine, alcohol and sex addiction
  • Bryonia alba: food addiction
  • Carbolicum Acidum: alcohol and tobacco addiction
  • Carbonaeum Sulphuratum: alcohol addiction
  • Coffea Cruda: caffeine addiction
  • Nux Vomica: coffee, alcohol and tobacco addiction
  • Passiflora incarnata: morphine addiction
  • Lycopodium clavatum, Sanicula aqua and Phytolacca Decandra:provide relief against a range of symptoms present in addiction

Before using these products, be sure to consult a qualified homeopathic physician.
