People are becoming more and more aware of the importance of healthy nutrition and are choosing organic and natural products.
Also many local farmers are producing various eco products and many healthy food markets are being opened in many European countries.
Croatia also started following this trend and the increased interest in healthy nutrition and healthy life can be noticed.
Croatia has clean unpolluted environment that is suitable for producing organic and unpolluted food.
The fact is that Croatia has a long tradition of natural food production that has been passed from generation to generation.
This is an excellent basis for the production of healthy food that is not polluted with toxins.
Astonishing Research Results on Pesticides in Food
Recent research that was conducted in Australia discovered a direct connection between food consummation and the level of agrochemical toxins that are being retained in the body.
Results of this revolutionary research have been published in Journal of Environmental Research.
Research showed that people who included 80% of organic ingredients in their nutrition had even 89% lower levels of pesticides and agrochemicals in their body!
Research was conducted in Melbourne on persons aged between 18 and 65 years old, who were non-smokers, including both sexes.
The level of pesticides in both groups (group that consumed organic food and group that consumed conventional food) was determined by urine analysis.
The results were astonishing.
Urine tests of those who consumed conventional food showed the presence of various agrochemicals, especially many phosphate fertilizer substances.
In those who consumed only organic ingredients the level of phosphates was lower for even 89%.
Dark History of Phosphate Fertilizers
Many people don’t know what are phosphates or why anyone one should be specially worried about them.
They are one of the most common types of pesticides and hundreds of thousands are being used every year.
But they also have a dark history.
They have been developed during Second World War and used as war poisons.
These chemicals are especially made to affect the nerve system that controls the muscle functions.
Their victims often died of suffocation being unable to breathe due to lung paralysis.
Many researches connected organophosphates with various diseases and problems, including difficult mental development, loss of memory and weakened brain functions.
These compounds also affect hormonal balance causing changes in sex hormones whose deficiency causes infertility.
It is suspected that they also cause certain types of cancer such as leukemia.
Organic Food for Healthy Future
The important fact is that organic food can drastically decrease the levels of toxins in the body and the risk of many diseases.
This argument will certainly make you avoid unchecked products and buy only products that are organically produced.
Awareness of health and healthy nutrition is present today in all societies and in all cultures.
All we are left with is hope that Croatia will also follow world trends in respect to organic food and give advantage to healthy organic products through various mechanisms such as education, financial availability and financial benefits for producing organic products.
Even without taking into account the ecological effect of organic food, the fact is that by consuming these products the health of our citizens would be preserved.
