Manuka honey comes from the opposite side of the globe and could be the most healing honey in the world.
This extremely healing nectar has been known for thousands of years by the indigenous people of New Zealand, who still use it for making potions and tonics.
It is a unifloral honey that bees produce from flowers of manuka tree (Latin name Leptospermum scoparium).
A research group from University Waikato in 1981 discovered on New Zealand that this honey has a stable, powerful and unique antibacterial properties, which are not present in any other type of honey.
Helps when standard medications fail
Manuka honey is known for its exceptional antibacterial properties, which, unlike other types of honey, are not destroyed during dilution, exposure to sunlight or heat.
It is believed that several factors created this effect: a high concentration of therapeutic agents, a low water content, low acidity and the presence of specific therapeutic compounds from manuka flowers.
In a study developed at the University of Sydney, this honey has destroyed almost all types of bacteria that have been exposed to it.
It is considered to be effective even against H. pylori - the cause of most stomach ulcers, E. coli - the most common cause of infected wounds and Streptococcus pyogenes – the cause of sore throat.
The British government health facility licensed its medical use in treatment of wounds in 2004, confirming what the ancient New Zealanders knew a long time ago - manuka obviously has miraculous properties.
Its effectiveness is evidenced by the many users who cured herpes, fungus on their feet, cysts and even severe infections such as pressure sores, sepsis and MRSA in a short time.
All over the internet you can find many enthusiastic users, some of which have even been saved from limb amputations thanks to this honey.
A study conducted on 17,000 people showed the benefit of this honey in the treatment of chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, rhinitis and sinusitis.

How to identify genuine manuka honey
Not all manuka honeys are made equally.
Depending on the season and the origin, the active substances in them vary. The highest quality honey is the one made in the wild uncultivated areas of New Zealand.
In order to distinguish between various manuka honeys, an UMF factor (Unique Manuka Factor) has been developed.
It is a certificate which indicates that it is a real pure manuka honey with active compounds.
UMF factor:
- UMF factor / 5-9 / for maintaining health and immunity
- UMF factor / 10-14 / suitable for treating ailments
- UMF factor / 15 + / honey of the highest quality and high antibacterial and therapeutic activity
