Due of its beauty, turquoise has been revered for centuries in many cultures.

It was a symbol of power and wealth, and the amount of turquoise that someone possessed determined his position in society.

It was believed that one who wore turquoise could not be poor.

Persians believed it brought good luck and protected against disease and in their culture it was an inevitable talisman.

Egyptians believed it to be a sacred stone and used it for making jewelry, decorating furniture and various decorative objects.

The Aztecs believed that this stone was a compound of heavenly and earthly fire. In combination with other materials, it was used for making shields, masks and knives.

In ancient Rome and India, with the addition of certain substances, it was used as a cure for many diseases.

Arabs used it for decorating horses, because they thought that this stone and its powers would protect both horse and the rider.


Interesting facts


By its composition turquoise is a phosphate of copper and aluminum (CuAl6 (PO4) 4 (OH) 8.4 H2O).

The earliest known areas of exploitation of this natural gem are Alimersai Mountains in Persia and the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, and it is believed it originated from these areas.

In the past the physical sensitivity of this stone was not researched and it was believed that the color change predicted misfortune and death.

Today it is known that besides under the influence of energy, turquoise responds or changes color under the influence of temperature, light, perspiration and a variety of cosmetics such as perfumes.

Due to the high demand, turquoise is the first precious mineral whose imitations have in the past been made of glass or enamel.

Today imitations are made of china, ceramics and plastic.


Cleaning and charging


Turquoise is sensitive to strong and prolonged sunlight, bumps, drops and scratches.

If it suddenly changes color, you need to clean and recharge it as soon as possible.

Turquoise should be cleaned once a month by putting it into a dry pan with pieces of hematite.

The stone is recharged by placing it near mountainous crystal and copper.
