Traces of glyphosate, a hazardous and toxic ingredients of GMO Roundup herbicide, were found in the products of major British producer of non-GMO food.
This finding raises the question of security of all of us and leads to a horrifying thought that GMOs are increasingly present regardless of the high awareness of their harmful effects.
British website The Ecologist published a study of the British anti-GMO group called GM Freeze.
Of the 40 types of bread products by the food giant Warburtons, traces of dangerous herbicides were found in as many as 34.
Glyphosate is found in products by a company named Jordans.
This finding is particularly worrisome, because these are the big names in the food industry.
Traces of hazardous herbicides that were found in the products of these manufacturers were below the maximum level.
But many disagree with the maximum permitted levels, warning that glyphosate is extremely dangerous and that it should not be tolerated in any quantity.
How glyphosate ended up in our food
How is the presence of glyphosate possible in bread and other products in an area where GMOs are not cultivated?
Roundup is a popular herbicide used on non-GMO crops.
Farmers who cultivate non-GMO fields often use Roundup herbicide before planting to prevent weeds.
They also use it just before harvest to facilitate the process of harvesting the crop.
Thus, it can occur in foods that are not derived from GMO crops, which means that only and exclusively organic crops are safe from pesticides.
In most European countries, GMO soy and corn are allowed for feeding livestock.
It is believed that this fact contributed to great popularity of Monsanto's Roundup herbicide.
The end result of this herbicide are multiple negative effects on farm animals.
Dutch animal breeder confirmed a huge difference in the health and reproduction of their livestock.
Using GMO-free livestock food resulted in far better animal health.
He testified there was a smaller need for antibiotics and a lower numbers of miscarriages and deformities in offspring were recorded.
U.S. livestock producers have a similar experience.
And they, by feeding their animals with GMO food, were faced with problems such as infertility, miscarriage and deformity of offspring.
Farmers have reported all of that to retired professor of plant pathology, the world's leading experts on GMOs - Dr. Don Huber.
After several decades of research of GMOs, Huber has openly opposed any form of genetically modified organisms and genetically modified foods and the use of Roundup pesticides in agriculture.
He found that Roundup had an effect on the soil and the plants in such a way that plants were nutritionally depleted and completely devoid of their natural resistance to diseases.
"The plant can be rich in minerals, but if it was treated with glyphosate it will not be physiologically valuable for use and in that case it would be like eating a piece of gravel," - said Dr. Huber.
He also thinks that glyphosate stimulates the development of more than 40 diseases, including fungal diseases among plants.
Huber regularly informs all leading institutions about his research and findings, but his warnings are being ignored.
The dangers of glyphosate
The extreme toxicity of Roundup herbicide is caused by mutual enhanced activity of glyphosate and certain chemical constituents, whose role is a rapid absorption of glyphosate in plants.
Glyphosate is in this case considered to be active, while chemical ingredients are considered to be inert.
Ingredients of Roundup have not been adequately investigated, and Monsato frantically retains ownership rights to avoid detection of "inert" ingredients.
Seraline Group, headed by Professor Gilles-Eric Séralini, a professor at the University of Caen, has carried out research on rats for two years (Note: "Alternativa za Vas" does not support research on animals!).
They found that GMO foods have caused a premature death of rats and a terrible incidence of tumors.
During the study they were able to figure out what are the ingredients that cause such dire consequences.
Using scientific methods, they isolated inert ingredients of GMOs and noticed their toxicity.
In Roundup pesticide, glyphosate combined with such "inert" ingredients creates a toxic carcinogenic cocktail, which eventually finds its way up the food chain.
Research covered up, article removed
Seralini’s research group published their findings in the Journal of Food and Chemical Toxicology.
After a year, the magazine removed the article on the grounds that the conclusions about the effects of GMO crops on animal health were not sufficient for the final assertion of the damaging effects of GMOs.
However, keep in mind that nearly 800 scientists and thousands of other experts voiced their objections to the journal due to the withdrawal of this study, which confirmes the credibility of Seralini’s research.
Also interesting is the fact that, immediately before the withdrawal of this article, a former Monsato scientist, Richard Goodman, became the editor of this magazine.
Just after his appointment he began the process of condemnation and withdrawal of Seralini’s research from the magazine.
