feng shui biljke What do you think about when you hear the word “nature”?

About flower-filled meadows filled with colorful flowers? Or fragrant grasses on meadows and dense forest? Beauty and peace?

And we have to ask whether there is a way that a man can be a part of that harmonious symbiosis, and not only experiencing nature as a source of beauty, food and medicine.

All of us in our way give answers to that question. Someone steals a bunch of flowers from the meadow, some people cultivate flowers, some people pick healing plants - these are all ways in which humans are maintaining links with nature.

Some people, however, closely observe the relationships in nature. They analyze why some plants grow better on the north side and the other on the south, why some plants go well together, while others cannot tolerate each other.

People collect these experiences, use them and pass them on as wisdom.

Some people observed nature more than others, and found that the plant world works according to certain rules – the rule of clean energy exchange.

Today we know about the effects of the Earth's magnetic field, gravitational force, magnetic radiation of sun, moon etc.

Feng shui also deals with the energetic aspects of observing plants.

These seemingly very complex relationships can be explained by the already mentioned principle of five elements.

If we look at different trees, flowers, vegetables - all of that makes the plant world, but the differences between them are very noticeable.

One thing is certain: the nature has done that on purpose, so that each species has its place in the energy grid.

As we mentioned in previous articles, there are five basic types of energy , and according to this classification the entire plant life can be classified according to the following categories.

ELEMENT OF WOOD

Energy of the morning. The sun is rising, the whole world is in motion, calling us to get up and greet the day.

Element of wood represents awakening, growth, slenderness, elasticity etc. Plants that belong to this element are tall and slender: bamboo, papyrus, cypress, poplar, fir, Scotch fichus etc.

Heralds of spring - tulip, narcissus, snowdrops - spring show a rising power that is joined by spring vegetables: onion, parsley, celery, asparagus, and the first spring the tall grass: maize, reed, cereals.

Energy of wood features and extremely green color (all shades) and the dominant stems growing straight in height (one plant - one stem).

Plants that belong to the element of wood are tall, thin and flexible, fast-growing and rapidly reach flowering, then if they are perennials, they grow best in the spring.

Plants of this element grow best in the east, southeast (synergy) and north (water nourishes wood), and will fail in the west and northwest (metal destroys wood).

ELEMENT OF FIRE

The energy of fire is easily recognizable because it reminds us the fiery tongues of fire and radiation. The fire forms quickly, and vanishes quickly. It is the energy of danger; we have to careful with it and stay at bay.

The following to energy of fire: cacti, palm trees, nettles, roses, thistle, blackberries, poppies - all that tells us not to touch, or have sharp spines or leaves or is poisonous.

In this element we include flowers that have fire-red and orange flowers or leaves, trees dominated by red leaves or have leave shapes that are associated with fire (triangular, sharp, needle) and a plant whose leaves are sharp and long.

These plants grow best and in full bloom in summer.

Examples of "fire” plants are poisonous plants (oleander), poisonous mushrooms (red hat), yucca, pineapple, aloe vera, snake plant.

Fire energy is the energy of the south, that is why these plants grow best in the south (synergy), east and southeast (wood feeds the fire), but poor growth in the north (water puts out fire).

ELEMENT OF EARTH

This is a stable and enduring energy, which is circularly spreading close to the ground.

This means that this group consists of low plants that are well entrenched in the soil and are difficult to remove from it.

A true example are the creepers that grow evenly in width and form circular shapes, header, low grasses, shrubs, strawberries, cucumbers.

This includes a Mediterranean rocky terrain with Mediterranean herbs: mint, thyme, home happiness etc.

The earth element includes perennial trees with lower treetops that grows more in width, flowers whose blossoms are predominantly yellow and lower houseplants growth with thick, solid and oval leaves that grow horizontally (for example African violet).

These plants grow well in the southwest and northeast (power of the soil), south (fire feeds the soil), but fail in the East and Southeast (wood controls soil).

ELEMENT OF METAL

This is tight and concentrated energy.

That is how lavender bush looks like - gray leaves, tightly intertwined stem of round bush, with a metallic purple leaves.

In this group belong Savoy vegetables with round heads and gray-green leaves - cabbage, kale, cauliflower, kohlrabi etc.

Among the trees, the representative of this element is an olive with grayish oval leaves and a round treetop.

The metal element is the elements of flowers with dominant white flowers, especially if they have round and gray leaves.

Plants that have a round shape, gray color and resemble metal are the following flowers: garlic, baby’s tear flower (silver type), silver crowns, the bishop's cap, flowering stones etc.

Metal plants flourish in the west and northwest, southwest and northeast, and fail in the south (fire controls metal).

ELEMENT OF WATER

Energy of water is the energy of the fall; it is unstable, dynamic and flexible.

It is easily recognized by its oval shape, or forms of waterfalls and fountains.

This includes trees and flowers that have one of these characteristics - their flowers and leaves are turned to the ground, flowers have a dominant blue flowers (violets, hydrangeas) or have wavy or bluish leaves or their leaves are in the shape of waves or waterfalls.

Characteristic representative among the trees is weeping willow, among fruits - grapevine.

A good example of such houseplants is the elephant foot, edged dragon tree, fern, Dracaena etc.

Energy of water belongs to the northern side, that is why these plants grow best on the north, west and northwest side (metal feed water), but fail on the south side (fire and water are in the conflict).

Each plant has its place

Now we see that each plant has its place, otherwise nature would not exist.

The important thing is to identify what type of power belongs to the plant, then it is easy to know its place in the area, how will it get along with other plants and how they will affect you.

To identify plant elements use instructions above. First association, symbolism, the season in which it grows, the geographical location etc. can also help you.

Listed plants are typical examples, but many plants have two or even three types of energy, then it is even easier to position them, because they follow the rules for both energies.

For example, pine belongs to both elements of wood and fire, so it is found in the north, the east, to the south.

We see that the plants are the best indicators of the energy laws that govern our world. The transformation of energy through the five stages is apparent, the mutual exchange of energy among the plants, herbs and earth, plants and humans, plants and space etc.

Plants whisper to us, all we have to do is to listen!
