Dr. Edward Bach noticed that people of similar character have similar health problems.
He concluded that negative emotions such as anger, hatred, fear and sadness create a predisposition for developing certain diseases.
He realized that diseases come from subtle levels and are nothing but a manifestation of mental or emotional imbalance.
Negative emotions oppress our mind and the immune system and thus contribute to poor health.
Dr. Bach singled out seven basic negative states:
- fear
- discouragement
- uncertainty
- disinterest
- loneliness
- excessive concern for the welfare of others
- sensitivity to the effects
Working on yourself and using the healing power of peace, hope, faith, love and knowledge it is possible to transform negative emotions and develop a sense of happiness and satisfaction.
Bach’s therapy can help you in this regard.
The life force of flowers
It is said that flowers extracts contain their life force.
They act in such a way that they free us from negative emotions and stimulate the healing process, balancing the vital energy in the body.
Describing the effect of flowers, Bach said:
Flower extracts, like beautiful music or any other art work that brings inspiration, are able to awaken our true nature and connect us with our soul - and in such a way that it will bring peace and relieve suffering.
Preparations of flowers can help you easily get through the crisis period of life, resolve internal conflicts and get strength in difficult and emotional situations.
Flower extracts have gentle effect, which is why they can be used for the purposes of prevention - when we see things in our lives begin to spiral out of control.
But Bach’s drops are not "instant therapy." It may take several months to change deeply ingrained, negative thinking.
The search of a lifetime
Dr. Bach (1886 -1936) studied at the University College Hospital in London. He was a general practitioner, and later worked as a bacteriologist and immunologist.
Regardless of a successful career, Bach did not feel pleasure; he could not reconcile with the approach of conventional medicine, which pays attention to diseased organs only, not the person as a whole.
He turned to homeopathy, which was so close to him because of its holistic approach to treatment. He was successful as a homeopath; however, he still felt that there must be a simpler way of treatment, which uses only preparations from pristine nature.
He left his job and started his own research. With his collaborator Nora Weeks he discovered and prepared the first 12 flower remedies which they called "12 healers."
Knowingly causing negative emotions in himself and then experimenting with various herbs, Bach found plants that were effective in such an emotional state.
Through all this conscious suffering and sacrifice, Bach compiled 38 preparations that are now called "Bach Flower Therapy" or Bach drops.
Do floral extracts really function?
Generally accepted opinion, driven by traditional medicine, is that effects of flower extracts are nothing more than a placebo effect. However, the experience of thousands of people confirms that this statement is not true.
There is overwhelming evidence of solved clinical cases which were published in many scientific books and journals, and which confirm the effectiveness of this type of therapy.
For example, in this document, you can see an overview of a number of scientific studies documenting the effectiveness of Bach drops. While here you can view the results of a double-blind study of the famous anti-stress preparation called "Rescue Remedy".
In total, Dr. Bach discovered 38 flower preparations, corresponding to different mental states. Many alternative medicine experts - herbalists, homeopaths and aromatherapists apply Bach drops to supplement their therapy. Some therapists use only Bach drops in their treatment.
Bach flower remedy can be purchased at many pharmacies, but it is not advisable to choose the remedy for you by yourself.
Mixture should be prescribed by an experienced homeopath who will take into account all of your characteristics - your mental, emotional and physical state, and then prescribe similimum – a medicine "whose image is similar to yours."
Many of us have direct experience of the fact that our emotional and mental state can cause health problems. Bach therapy is focused on establishing harmony on both your mental and emotional level, which is crucial for your health.
“Our health depends on are we harmonized with our soul."
Dr.Edward Bach, 1932
